UPDATE (2016 Recap): I have mixed feelings about this year... I spent most of it trying to "micro-manage" health issues, mostly related to my hip. I finished the year approx 4 lbs heavier than I began, BUT many of my measurements were smaller (some more than an inch) than the beginning of the year. Which tells me that while the "scale" did not show success, evidently I converted some of my fat to muscle. So I can't be upset w/ that... I do have a newfound hope & motivation, so I'm hoping I can carry that into the new year & truly be successful.
UPDATE (2015 Recap): Most of this year has been a bust, basically gaining/losing the same 5-10 lbs. over and over all year long... until I got laid up w/ my hip in October. Since then I have been thru 4 surgeries, but also managed to lose 12+ lbs... hoping this is only the beginning of getting back on track... and finally to my goal weight!
UPDATE (2014 Recap): I would really like to pretend like this year never even existed... at least from a weight standpoint. Suffice it so say, I am back at "Ground Zero"... so now it is time to get back to what I know works, and get this done!
UPDATE (2013 Recap): Another roller coaster year for me... great first 1/3, bad middle 1/3, and awesome last 1/3... the important thing to take away from this year is that while I did "fall off the wagon" during the summer, I got back on track in the fall and finished on a good note. I heading in the right direction, and even if I stumble, I will get back up, dust myself off, and keep moving forward to my goals!
UPDATE (2012 Recap): So this year has pretty much been a non-compliant year... I have had quite the battle w/ my weight this year, and let's just say that the scale won! (To be honest, I have almost gained back all of the weight that I've lost previously.) BUT I'm not willing to give up, so I'm back to fight this battle and win, once and for all! I've got a newfound motivation, and an entirely new "game plan" to help me succeed. So, I'm back on the track... and I'm headin' for my checkered flag!!!
UPDATE (2011 Recap): This year has been an extremely rocky one... After the first 4 months of the year, I saw the scale creep back up to 225 lbs. I decided that maybe I needed to check out OA (Overeaters Anonymous) because I truly feel like I have an addiction, but the only option available in my area is online, which seems like more difficult than it is helpful. Over the next 5 months, I continued to allow the scale to creep up, getting back up to 247 lbs. I did manage to use the last 3 months to get back down to 228 lbs. so at least that is some progress in the right direction.
UPDATE (2010 Recap): Spent most of this year floundering around in ONEderland, getting as low as 187 lbs. I even used the C25K program to train for and complete a 5K in October! However, after that I started suffering from hip pain, and unfortunately, December found me back in the 200s. This hip discomfort has gotten bad enough that I have been scheduled for a partial hip replacement just a couple of days after the New Year! Hopefully after that is done, I can get myself back on track.
UPDATE (2009 Recap): Jan to Apr were extremely productive months on here, and then May & June were spent finding every excuse in the book to stray from my plan. I got back on track for July, and then went MIA again after my 40th birthday in Aug. I had planned to take 1 week off to celebrate my b-day, and it kinda snowballed into a 2-month hiatus. I finished off the year on a high note, actually LOSING weight for the first time ever during the holidays. Didn't reach my goal of ONEderland by the end of 2009 like I had hoped, but definitely ending the year closer than ever before!
INTRODUCTION (12/08): I started out the "large girl" in high school (wore size 16-18 back then), and just kept going from there. I've been as high as the 270 lb range, and as low as 175 lbs, right after my divorce. I don't want to become a stick-thin little thing - that wouldn't look good on me. But I do want to feel good, both physically & mentally. And it wouldn't be a bad thing to be able to shop in the regular depts. at the store instead of the plus-size area! I'm an RN on an ortho unit that specializes in joint replacements. Due to my size, I can empathize w/ my patients, because I know how their joints feel when they ache from the extra weight that they carry around on them every single day. I have a son who is just started college this year, and I would really like to get a professional picture take w/ him before he heads off after college, but I have been putting it off for years because I am embarrassed by the way I look, and consequently don't want to spend that kind of money on a picture I wouldn't want displayed anyway! But probably most importantly, I lost my mom to cancer a little over a year ago - and ever since then my dad & I have become extremely close (I am an only child). I see the concern on his face everytime we get to talking about my battle of the bulge - and I know that deep down he is scared that one day he'll have to bury me too because of all this excess weight that I'm sure puts a toll not only on my joints, but on the rest of my body too. I want to stop him from having to worry about that. So, as you can see, I have numerous reasons to get this weight off... and keep it off... for good this time. A little over a year ago, I weighed in at my heaviest weight ever (277 lbs.) and started Nutrisystem at that time. Over the next year, I was very successful using NS, and lost 82 lbs., getting down to 195 lbs. before having to go off NS for health reasons. Since then, I've done a 20lbs. see-saw on the scale ... so now I need to adjust my lifestyle in order to eliminate that once & for all! I'd like to achieve this by my 40th birthday, which is August 3, 2009!

Now that I'm 45+, I want to trade in my old bad habits for a much healthier lifestyle (NOT a quick-fix diet!) My goal is to be my "healthiest" before I turn 50!
1. Eat a well-balanced low-fat diet
2. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water/day
3. Exercise at least 3x/week
I live in a small town in western Kansas, where I was born & raised. (I have escaped twice, but came running back both times!)
I have been married for 13 yrs. now, have a 27 yo son, 3 step-sons (32, 27 & 25), and my babies, 2 dogs from our youngest son's dogs' litter (Lab / Daschund / Blue Heeler mix). Also have 3 daughter-in-law's... as all 3 step-sons are now married. Also just became a grandma, as oldest stepson had my 1st granddaughter at the end of 2015... I love how our family keeps growing!
I work as the lead RN charge nurse during the night shift on the Bone, Joint & Spine Center in our hospital and absolutely love my job!
I am a Nascar fanatic (as you could probably tell from my screen name)... Jeff Gordon is my favorite driver. #24 rocks!!! I also root for all Hendricks Motorsports drivers!
I am also a huge Biggest Loser fan, and even had the opportunity to attend the BL Couples season 5 finale!
