Now I'm 40 and a mother of two. Healthier than ever with my diet and exercise (although I run less now). We are trying for a more vegetarian diet with occasional fish and lean meat. Trying to cut all added sugar out (so hard) and eat only whole grains.

My Goals:
To eat healthy and keep fit as I get older. I would also like to become a bit leaner, but that's more of a plus.

Big push right now is to limit empty carbs and sugar.

My Program:
Trying to keep to a calorie limit (not always successfully!), eat more whole grains and vegetables, and to exercise.

I try to aim for at least 50 minutes of exercise a day, alternating between cardio and weights. Try to do Yoga or a long stretching session once a week.

emoticon Welcome to the Jeff Galloway Training for any Length Race team! I love to eat, too, and this method of running shifted my very complacent metabolism into high gear! Get your jogging stroller ready! I'm so glad you joined! And, best wishes for a clear focus as your prepare for a relaxing vacation. ~ Sue

Congratulations on your first half! It is an amazing feeling, isn't it? thanks for the encouragement..it has been a rough winter running for me with the weather in the midwest. If you think the half is amazing, wait until you do a full. Good luck with your training..

I suspect that may be part of it (burning more than I think), but I did gain a couple of pounds back. I like to think it's increased muscle mass!

Looks like you need to eat foods that are bit more on the filling side. May want to get a heart monitor and figure out your VO2 rating and then use that to calculate your calories burned, may turn out to be more than you are currently recording. Just some thought but keep up the great work!

Hey there!

concerning your comments about training for the half marathon. You can find some great training schedules online. The site I used was runnersworld.com. I've heard good things about halhigdon.com as well although he seems to focus on full marathons.

I don't really have the time to train properly for even a half marathon (I can only fit in 45-60 minutes of exercise a day except on the weekends) but my goal is to finish not run fast so I'm not too worried. I have managed to fit in a couple of long runs so I am pretty confident I can make my goal.
