Back. Some backtracking to do. Being a Grandma is awesome! Most days I'm ok with the empty nest. Lots going on, and it's all a learning process...

Trying to stay active. The empty nest is quickly approaching. Strange how being a successful parent means no longer being a parent. Or at least on the spot parent. Food choices have declined in recent weeks. I figure I'll get back with it after my son leaves. My first grandbaby is due in a couple of months.

So far I have lost 70 pounds (that last pound was tough!). Oddly enough, the weight is almost beside the point now. My health is my focus. I've began a new program by deciding to eat for health and also make other choices for health, such as deliberately choosing a peaceful life when I can.

Thought I'd update my info. The last two months have had progress. So far 21 pounds down in round two. Makes a total of 61 now. And counting. Just found out my daughter is pregnant with my first Grandbaby! My son has graduated from high school and is a great young man. My parents are doing pretty well. My guy is still an important part of my life. I'm still working and able to meet the bills. Life is good!!

Bing bing! Time for round two. It's on. The past few months have been crazy and the new guy has been a distraction (didn't say that was a bad thing...) Anyway, five months and four pounds later it's not much of a setback considering how my life has changed in that time. Apparently the only way for me to continue to lose it and keep it off is to log, log, log. It's just too easy to kid yourself. So - here goes.

November 2008
Alas, time to take better care of myself. Sometimes priorities and focus have to be shifted... so many things are "on the list." Time to move "lose weight" and "get healthier" up to page one, front and center! Sparkpeople has been a great help with that focus! I usually log my food on an excel spreadsheet but don't always enter everything here on Sparkpeople, mainly because I still have dial-up (you know, click on a page and do some housework or exercise while it loads...) Maybe I'll get high-speed after the house is paid off...

Fitness Minutes: 10,930

My Goals:
My goal is to slowly make changes and incorporate new healthy habits. Many times in the past I have tried to lose weight but tried to change everything at once and became frustrated from a lack of time or energy to maintain my goals.


My Program:
My strategy is to watch what I eat very closely most of the time and have a "food vacation" for one day a week. I don't go crazy during a food vacation but do eat those things that definately do not fit in a healthy diet such as Chinese food or barbeque ribs. My "food vacation" days are scheduled ahead of time so I can't kid myself. I'm trying to drink 8 glasses of water a day and have started to monitor how much walking I do on a normal basis. Goals on waliking will come later. Purchased a new Health o meter scale, the best scale I have ever owned! I have been really impressed with it so far (the first week lol!)



Personal Information:
I live in Mid-Missouir area and have two children. My daughter is out on her own and my son is a Seinor in High School. I'm a single parent, own my own home, have 5 cats. My commute is an hour and a half to two hours round trip. Currently I work 4 tens (love it!).


Other Information:
Love to work with beads! Before I found beading I used to work with jigsaw puzzles and read quite a bit more.
