re-affirming my goals - turned 60 and ready to trim down
I'm now 60--- quit smoking for my 50th birthday- the best present I could have ever given myself. I gained the typical 20 pounds they say you gain when you quit smoking. . Those 20 new pounds are right around my mid section and 9 years later they are still with me. I realize that while I have learned alot here on SP - am aware of so much more and have developed some new great healthy habits - I have to be brave enough CHANGE. I cannot read and type my way to weight loss. Glad ...

I have opened up my food tracker and fitness pages for public vewing ---- sharing my life will lead to learning more about everyone's experience on the path to fitness. Comment on anything you see. Im just now entering a new phase of life. I have retired from a 35 year career.. This means i get to decide what i want to be when i grow up.................... trim and fit is definitely on that list.
Lots of winter visitors again this time of the year I'm happy you got here. I just turned 75 this past Sept and feel fit as a fiddle (as they say) hope your holidays are warm and fuzzy enough to really enjoy, because I know that after the holiday season it's a long northern winter. Merry Christmas to you and yours
Sweet dog ;) I have been working with a weight coach for 8 wks. now.I've lost 16 lbs and 10 .5" I am so thankful for all of her support! She hs lost 130 lbs and kept it off for 2 yrs. it is all about eating nutrient dense foods and finding exercise you enjoy and can switch up so as not to get bored with it..I enjoy walking and a mix of cardio. I quit smoking in 1990 and gained 30 lbs very quickly..my heaviest was 230 lbs, am now 193. My goal weight is 165. I am determined to reach it and promise myself to be patient, encouraging and forgive me quickly when I fall...just pick myself up and keep on going..:) I am 63 years young :-)
Hey there! Thanks for the goodie. So nice to hear you are moving back to a place you love. I love the beach too; spent a lot of time there during my childhood. I'm just a little jealous. Fresh house, fresh start in a fresh place. Nice.
I am planning a Thanksgiving get-together with very close friends. There'll be a nice gathering of people of all generations.
I have been experimenting with removing wheat from my diet and I have to admit I feel a lot better. The stomach bloat seems to be going away. I'm thinking I ought to give up eating anything with gluten in it. I HATE diet restrictions; I rebel against them with energy. But...feeling better is a reasonable concern. I'm sure I will blow it on Thanksgiving but, oh well.
Hope you and your family are well.
PS: you know, when I first joined SP and met you on-line I knew nothing about ducks and never even considered owning any. My SP name was just a silly thing that came into my head.
Well now, I have ducks! They sort of got dumped on me and after a year and a half we have all settled in together; they have their little duck house and pond and I get fabulous eggs every morning. LOL!
I fell at school 2 weeks ago and broke my kneecap. I had surgery Friday and have NEVER felt pain like that! But I actually went 5.5 hours w/o meds last night and feel better today. I am with my son and later today will stay with my daughter for a week. I see the surgeon for a follow up tomorrow and hope I'm on the mend. Boy, old age isn't for the weak!!
And I just got the Goodie...thanks so much! Warm slippers will be great once I can walk again!!
thanks for your nice comments. Name is a combo of the state Im from and my dog Jazz. NJJAzz Losing weight - or actually losing fat is a hell of alot harder than quitting smoking. Still working at losing body fat................... its a tough one. thanks again.
