Sixty one years young... now to be fit and toned.

I'm now 61--- quit smoking for my 50th birthday- the best present I could have ever given myself. I gained the typical 20 pounds they say you gain when you quit smoking. . Those 20 new pounds are right around my mid section and 11 years later they are still with me.
I realize that while I have learned alot here on SP - am aware of so much more and have developed some new great healthy habits - I have to be brave enough and strong enough to CHANGE. I cannot read and type my way to ...

I have opened up my food tracker and fitness pages for public viewing ---- sharing my life will lead to learning more about everyone's experience on the path to fitness. Comment on anything you see.
Im just now entering a new phase of life. I have retired from a 35 year career.. This means i get to decide what i want to be when i grow up.................... trim and fit is definitely on that list.

My Goals:
Lose another 15 pounds........... mostly in the lower body area - belly and legs.
I know what I have to do and how it has to be done......... so now to just do it..:)

My Program:
Eat cleaner - keep carbs at the low end and treat myself at least once per week.

run/walk/bike ride at least 20 miles per week

get to the gym for strength training 5 times per week


Start where I am - use what I have - and do what I can


Personal Information:
I amgoing to be 61 years old................. 5'3" 137 pounds with a 38 inch waist.......... yep its all right in my belly. Legs are also a little flabby

Other Information:
Reach inside and find the strength that enabled me to quit smoking. Use that inner strength to get this body into the shape I want.



This is 75% health minded and 25% plain vanity. I want to look great.

HI! new to doing this but I am coming up to a milestone in my life in 2016 - I will turn 60 years young... I am starting a new goal after the New Year... I want to be as healthy as I possibly can be by July - my birthday month... I go to the gym regularly try and watch what I eat.. but there are things that I know have to change. I like my wine and cocktails and they will have to go for awhile until I am where I want to be then after that in moderation... also have to be more consistent with my workouts and I want to really challenge myself in my workout!! thank you for listening...

My food tracker is open to all who want ideas or have helpful dietary comments. I am turning 60 this year and 8 years without smoking. those 19lbs are the WORST HaHaHa
