Building the Healthy Lifestyle

Each day that I make healthy choices I feel that energetic glow that makes life so joyous. And that glow improves with practice. I choose to embrace who I am today. numbers will be healthy for me, along the way.

The one thing that I have adopted successfully is drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily. I need to celebrate that success! I continue to work at making healthy choices for everything that I put in my mouth for nourishment, with some success.
My weak spot is exercise. I don't have a program in place. That is what I need to work on this year.

I am a native New Yorker (upstate) who was transplanted to Texas (Katy)
59 year old mother of five - ages 32, 28, 25, 23 and 20. Four boys and one girl (23 year old). My husband and I have been married for 36 years.

"glory, hallelujah" I did overcome and resist temptation! And I feel good about it. If my weight loss remains tomorrow when I step on the scale, I will feel super good about it.

And you are so right....we work so hard to move a pound off. Time to protect the progress. Tis the season.

Hope your day was a really good one!

Ha Ha...yes, Nancy, HP is Harry Potter. I'm having fun, now we just have to see if I actually make progress on my healthy habits. Have a great Labor Day. Janet

Hello. Sounds like you have some very fond memories of Saratoga Springs. We do, too. We usually spend a couple of days at the "Spa" and DH bets on the horses, while I eat my way around the grounds, LOL. This trip, I haven't and the food aromas have been torturous. Are you familiar with Hattie's? They have an area at the track called "A Taste of Saratoga" and Hattie's is serving up deep fried chicken. It's to die for. None this trip for me. Today I stuck to a few whole wheat pretzels and a small handful of dried apricots. And I walked the grounds for an hour to get my exercise in. The local stores have some great sales over the Labor Day holiday....sweet!

I know where Exit 43 is along the Thruway. I've been to Lake Canandaigua several times, plus I used to drive past it always as I took Exit 41 when I worked for Cornell University and made trips from the Buffalo office to the Ithaca campus. Seems like a lifetime ago, although that part of my life changed in 2009 when I took an early retirement.

You are doing great with your Plan. Keep workin' it girlfriend! Have a terrific Labor Day holiday.

Thanks for your encouraging comments on my blog. As you write on one of yours, attitude is key. The 100 days works well for me, because it keeps me accountable -- on good or not so good behaviors -- so for me it creates a positive framework, rather than a negative one overall. It's strength for me is that it keeps me "plugged" in so that I don't totally abandon Plan for too long. All aside, Chapter 12's focus is a dramatic departure, in that I am only concentrating on a couple of really undesirable behaviors that have impeded my weight loss over the last 11 Chapters. So I am celebrating my strengths and busy at work on just a couple of key behaviors so that I don't feel overwhelmed by what needs to happen.

You have a great start on your Plan that you are launching as the school year begins. And you are remembering the positives in every day, a great influence for us both from the Positive Bloggers team. Getting connected with this group has had a major impact on me and how I view every day even though I am not actively posting to the team.

Wishing you an easy, positive, healthy, fit Tuesday! emoticon
