Finding a balance

I started my Sparkpeople journey just over a year and a half ago with the goal of making some healthy lifestyle changes that would become real habits. I'm now married to my best friend, we've bought our first house and as of December 2012, I'm a mother to a healthy and beautiful baby boy!

I felt pretty crummy during the first trimester of my pregnancy and so pretty much stopped any strenuous exercise at that time and ate whatever I wanted. I was fairly careful about healthy eating ...

I felt pretty crummy during the first trimester of my pregnancy and so pretty much stopped any strenuous exercise at that time and ate whatever I wanted. I was fairly careful about healthy eating during the rest of the pregnancy, but I used pregnancy as an excuse to let exercise fall by the wayside. Not good!

My current goal is to work on finding a health/life balance between being a mom, wife and working on some personal goals like exercise, reading, etc. Through it all - I really want to ENJOY the next several months of my mat leave as I am blessed to live in Canada where extended maternity leaves are well supported. Feeling positive about all these life changes!

Hmm.. my secret for getting the babies on a schedule... first of all I dont know if you are breastfeeding but I am not so that is probably the biggest thing - they stay full longer. During the day I push the bottle every 3 hours (even if they are not crying for it) and give about 4-5 ounces. This way they get most of their nutrition needs met during the day and dont wake up starving in the middle of the night. That is the main thing that seems to work.
