This is what I'm used to looking like!
Hi, I'm a Yat from New Orleans trying to lose some post-Katrina Fat! After returning to New Orleans after the storm, stress and depression were rampant throughout the city. And as you may know, we don't need much excuse in the Big Easy to eat and drink our cares away. Within the first 2 years after I returned home, I actually lost 15 lbs from not eating regularly and overall bad health choices, making me underweight. Then, as I began to eat normally again, I gained the weight back, and then more, and more. At this point, I am about 25 lbs over my ideal healthy weight. I'm hoping that this site can give me the motivation and inspiration that I need to start and continue a healthy lifestyle. My goal is that by next Mardi Gras, I'll be able to pull on my tutu and shake a somewhat smaller tailfeather!
My goals are to tone up, get rid of this little belly pooch, shed about 15-25 lbs and get active!
I've just started a walking program that I plan to do at least 3 times a week. Also, I am going to start using my Yoga Booty Ballet DVD's again, as they are a lot of fun, but a really tough and overall workout. Lastly, I have paid for yoga sessions that I can't wait to start!

Thank you so much for making me your friend. I know that this is really late but I am so far behind in my e-mails. I could just delete them all but I want to pass on some motivation and be motivated by others. I am not doing so well in the weight loss department but I refuse to give up. I will start eating healthy and exercise eventually. Hopefully this weather will break soon and we can walk. Hope you are still working on becoming a success, even if it is just in your mind, as long as we don't give up, I know that we can do this. It has to be one of the hardest things there is to do but if we give up, we will never accomplish it. Keep a positive mind and if it doesn't happen today, tomorrow, next week or next month, it will happen soon.

Where y'at, Dawlin'? Good to meet you NOLAGIRLIE. I have the same Post-K weight story. Couldn't eat well for awhile, go too skinny for my hubby to hold on to ;-)
Now, holy cow! Got 50 to drop. Depression is powerful.
SP has helped alot. I'm back to Laissez Faire!

Welcome to SparkPeople. I am so glad that you found us. There is a lot of information here and the best tools to help you reach your goals.
I have been on SparkPeople since April 2009 and I have lost over 20 pounds and I have kept it off with the help of this website! I track my food every day (good and bad) and I track my exercise. You can check out my SparkPage and see my fitness and food tracking. I put it all out there for everyone to see – the good, the bad and the ugly. It helps keep me honest! Are there days when I eat stuff that I know I shouldn’t – of course. This is a life long journey, one with many paths to take. I just have to keep making the right choices and when I don’t, I get back on the right path and don’t look back.
The encouragement and motivation I get from my Spark friends is amazing. They are always there to help me through tough times and bring a smile to my face. I have found that if I post something that is bothering me, within an hour someone will respond back and make sure everything is alright and offer encouragement.
One of the best things that you can do for yourself is to find a few good teams that you will check in with every day. When you are looking at teams that you might be interested in, check how old the posts are. If you find that no one has posted to it for a few weeks then I would suggest you keep looking. You need daily support and interaction with other team members. I invite you to check out the posts on Spin Me A Yarn, which I am the team leader of to see if it is something that interests you. It is a small team and I try to keep it fun and interesting.
Being new, I would suggest that you use Your Spark Points (click on View SparkPoints) as a map to the site. It is a good way to see what is new and a great tool for any situation.
