I am a happy-go-lucky empty nest military mom who now has time to do things for herself. When I sit down and think about goals it is hard to realized that I am really 50 pounds or more over weight, I know my scale numbers but I don't feel like I am that far over weight...just like I am aware of my age but I don't feel more than about 28 or 30 max. I wan't to lose weight so that I can be healthier and I would like to be active around grandkids if and when the time gets here. That could be soon too since one son is married and trying and the other is ready for a family. I am not competitive but like to beat my personal bests and I am hoping that will get me to the goal. I have dieted in the past, but never had the goal setting in place...I just wanted to lose a few pounds somehow and when I didn't see results said "oh well". I think a secret goal is that I would like to be a "Sexy Looking Sixty Something" for no real reason at all except it would be my personal best!

My Goals:
My goal is to be happy and healthy. My problem is I see both sides of things a side is to be healthy and lose weight...the other side is I could die tomorrow why limit myself? I am working at believing that if I lose weight and become healthy I will live long enough to see grandkids born and growing. Of course the other side to that is I could probably live just as long the way I am...LOL. But overall I think I will be happier and more likely to enjoy that life if I can get out of chairs without effort and chase the grandkids on the playground without huffing and puffing.

My Program:
Right now I am concentrating on learning to forgive myself if I exceed my calorie goals. To not throw in the towel because I had a piece of pie / cake / candy...whatever. And to take a deep breath and get back on track in the morning.

Personal Information:
Single Mom...Empty Nest, both sons serving in the US Army - just like MOM!
I am 60 - soon...not dating but would like to be. That is sort of a goal - to find someone to spend time with. Will work on that next.
Not much else to know about me really...

Other Information:
I just read the coolest weight loss book. I loved it for various reasons: one was that they didn't preach any weight loss theories, didn't tell you how much exercise to do and when, etc. which was nice. What they did tell you were stories about how they felt as a morbidly obese person and as a plain old obese person. The name of the book was HALF ASSED - A Weight Loss Memoir by Jennette Fulda. I downloaded it to my Kindle the same day I downloaded SPARK and when I was reading SPARK too fast (getting ahead of myself in the phases) I would read Half Assed. She tells the stories that we are all familiar with - clothes shopping, walking up stairs, just everyday life, in a funny uplifting way. I laughed so much and felt like if she could do it so could I.
