I don't wear mine on my wrist. I attach it to my pants (I don't like un-snappng it, so I just use a big safety pin). It hides under my shirt top. I think its motivating because its now counting real activity - you have to get your heart rate up to get active minutes. It still counts all your steps so you can have lots of steps and only a few active minutes. It reminds me to walk faster and when I'm on the phone (I talk a lot!) I pace the floor and it adds lots of active minutes!
I got 1500 active minutes this month but that's way down from before March. In april FITBIT changed the way they track active minutes and it really impacted what was being synched to SparkPeople. I took it as a sign that I needed to get more active minutes and I'm trying to get back over 2K per month but its tough!
Thanks for sharing your experience at the seminar, it is very hard when your a "prisoner" of the environment. I'll get more water than I was planning to have with me, thanks for the suggestion. Another pressure is wanting to "fit in" with everyone around you. So, I'm planning to watch the skinny people and see what they eat!
