Hi, my name is Nancy. I joined Spark People because I have horrendous eating habits and am hoping to gain and keep control of what I put in my mouth by tracking what I eat. I gained 30 pounds throughout my adult life and managed to lose 20 of those but those last 10 are hanging on for dear life.

I began to exercise on a regular basis and my latest obsession is running. I never thought I'd enjoy running but I do and am amazed at how good I feel. I have less aches and pains now.

I find exercising to be invigorating and look forward to working out. Some say I am borderline obsessed but I say I am on my way to feeling great!!!!

Update: December 24th, I lost 5 of those stubborn last 10 pounds!

Update: January 27th, 2010, I went beyond that 10 pound mark!!

My Goals:
To lose enough body fat to put me in the fitness level on the % of body fat charts.

To be able to run 5k non stop consistently.

Run a 5k in under 30 minutes.

To eat clean on a daily basis.

My Program:
I am currently doing the SparkPeople Bootcamp; along with the 30 Day Shred video and trying to run for 1 hour 4 times a week.

Nancy, Check out the addendum to my "Drop the Rope" blog. You said I might find I eat less once I drop the diet thing. Well, I am definitely not dieting: eating good food:yes, listening: yes, tracking yes: dieting, no. I am just thrilled this is working.

Do you have that info on the article you sites on the message board "Are all calories Created Equal/". I want to look up the article and share it with my husband. Thanks.

Nancy, I was curious and went back to read "Are all calories Created Equal". Wow that is great info. I'm definitely going to use that info in my food choices in the future. Just because I'm "listening", doesn't mean I can't give myself a little nudge in the right direction every now and then. Thanks for the info.

wow! I just read your response to the "are all calories created equal?" thread! Thanks for taking the time to explain the science... I have a much better understanding now. Good luck in your quest to take off those last stubborn pounds and congratulation on becoming a fitter YOU! I'm in awe of anyone who can enjoy running ;) emoticon
