Continue to make small improvements each and every day.

These pictures are encouraging. I was here once before I can do it again. How did I let myself get back to being over 300 lbs. Can't dwell on that. Time to make changes. I am looking forward to getting married and having a healthy life so I can be around a long time with my family.

Ran 1st 5k race - Storming the Bastille - July 9, 2009 - time 31.5 min!!!!! WooHoo!!!! It was so much fun!!! (I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth.)

10/10/09 - Ran my 1st chip timed race - 8k Al's Run for Children's Hospital. 48:11 overall 2088, Divpl 81/164 Sex 748/1445 That means I ran an average mile in 9.7 min. WooHoo That is much better than I usually do.

My story - I decided in late Feb 2008 that I needed to change my lifestyle. Everyday I try to learn a little more and take one more step toward a healthy lifestyle. At the beginning of 2008 I weighed 290 lbs. I joined the gym in Feb of 08 and got a personal trainer since I had no idea where to even begin. I still work with the personal trainer because he continues to challenge me in new ways that I still would not have thought of. When I started I thought I had to keep telling myself I was not going to die and that I was strong enough to just walk on the treadmill. I have come a long way since then but walking on the treadmill is still my favorite although now I walk at an incline of 15 and speed of at least 4.0. I started at no incline and a speed of 2.8. I also started logging what I ate and tried to eat healthier. Taking it one step at a time gradually getting better each day. I joined SP in late Feb 09 when the website I was logging my nutrition shut down. When I joined SP I was at 194 lbs - down 96 lbs from when I started.

Although I joined SP to track my nutrition and exercise, I have since become addicted to SP and the teams I am involved in. I love to motivate and be motivated by all the people I meet here. I also love the articles and everything else SP has to offer. Thank you SP for making this site free. I think it is the best site I have seen so far.

I know that I can lose all the weight now. In the past I used my hypothyroidism as an excuse as to why I was so overweight. I was just lying to myself. I gained weight due to eating poorly which is much more calories than needed and no exercise.

May boot camp goal is to get to 174 by the end of May 2009 which will move me from obese to overweight. Done. Woo Hoo. Goodbye obese.

I have learned a ton over the past year and continue to still learn new things all the time about fitness & nutrition. I also love to motivate and encourage others.
