Working on some changes

I am 52 years old and I have now been living in Sweden for 2 years.
As a New England native I can't say the cold bothers me but it is very dark here. My current challenge is to embrace the dark and cold and I think I am doing OK with it with the support of everyone here on spark.
There are a lot of really awesome people here!
The challenges help me stay focused and I am thankful for that.

I am hoping that the next picture I post will show me healthier (and thinner)!

My Goals:
I want to be healthy and strong.
I want to be able to wear the closet full of clothes that no longer fit me.
I want to feel good ALL the time.

My Program:
I tend towards the South Beach program ie: lower carbs, higher protein but mostly what I am for is high volume, low fat and low calorie.
I try to work out in some manner every day.
I do more strength training than cardio because I like it better and cardio bores me.

"Whatever you want in life, start today.
Not tomorrow - today.
Let it be a small beginning - a tiny beginning.
Your happiness depends on starting today - every day."
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

"Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself.
Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them -- every day begin the task anew -"

"There are admirable potentialities in every human being.
Believe in your strength and your truth.
Learn to repeat endlessly to yourself, 'It all depends on me.'"

"We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched.
Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential. "
~Ellen Goodman

“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation.
Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.”
-John C. Maxwell

"The common conception is that motivation leads to action, but the reverse is true -- action precedes motivation. You have to prime the pump and get the juice flowing, which motivates you to work on your goals. Getting momentum going is the most difficult part of the job, and often taking the first step is enough to prompt you to make the best of your day."
- Robert J. McKain

The Healthy Holidays Challenge team is still going strong, and we still have time to make some progress before New Years Day! If you're not feeling motivated to workout and eat right today....do it anyway! Be your own hero and take charge. You will likely feel motivated after you get started. I know I don't have to remind you that you're worth the effort, right?
Hugs,
Pixie
