I am 2 years old and I have now been living in Sweden for 2 years. As a New England native I can't say the cold bothers me but it is very dark here. My current challenge is to embrace the dark and cold and I think I am doing OK with it with the support of everyone here on spark. There are a lot of really awesome people here! The challenges help me stay focused and I am thankful for that. The photo here is of me last summer in Malmö, Sweden. I am hoping that the next picture I post will show me healthier (and thinner)!
I want to be healthy and strong. I want to be able to wear the closet full of clothes that no longer fit me. I want to feel good ALL the time.
I tend towards the South Beach program ie: lower carbs, higher protein but mostly what I am for is high volume, low fat and low calorie. I try to work out in some manner every day. I do more strength training than cardio because I like it better and cardio bores me.
âYou are not a mistake. You are not a problem to be solved. It's possible to treat yourself with outrageous kindness beginning today. Compulsive eating is only the symptom; believing that you are not worth your own love is the problem. Go for the love. You will never be sorry.â -Geneen Roth
TGIF from the Healthy Holidays Challenge team! I hope your week has been a good one. Did you do your best to make progress? You are worth the effort, you know. Be sure to treat yourself with "outrageous kindness" today and every day. You are awesome! Hugs, Pixie
Q: What's an ig?
A: An eskimo's home without a loo!
Two snowmen are standing in a field. One says to the other : "Funny, I smell carrots too!"
Q: What do reindeer say before telling you a joke ?
"You are capable and worthy of being and doing anything. You just need the discipline and determination to see it through. It won't come instantly, and you may backslide from time to time, but don't let that deter you. Never give up. Life is an ever-changing process, and nothing is final. Therefore, each moment and every new day is a chance to begin anew." -Barbara Cage
Just a friendly reminder from the Healthy Holidays team to remind you that there are 28 days until New Years Day! Stay strong and keep your goals in mind. We are getting a running start on a healthy new year! Hugs, Pixie
LIFE LESSONS FROM A SNOWMAN (Unknown)
It's okay if you're a little bottom heavy. Hold your ground, even when the heat is on. Wearing white is always appropriate. Winter is the best of the four seasons. It takes a few extra rolls to make a good midsection. There's nothing better than a foul weather friend. The key to life is to be a jolly, happy soul. It's not the size of the carrot, but the placement that counts. We're all made up of mostly water. You know you've made it when they write a song about you. Accessorize! Accessorize! Accessorize! Avoid yellow snow. Don't get too much sun. It's embarrassing when you can't look down and see your feet. It's fun to hang out in your front yard. Always put your best foot forward. There's no stopping you once you're on a roll.
"What is it that you would like to achieve? What is it that you wish to change, improve upon, create, express or experience? If you ever want it to happen, now is when you must do something about it. If it is your desire to see it come about, it is your responsibility to make the necessary effort." -Ralph Marston
Happy December from the Healthy Holidays Challenge team! Keep doing your best, one day at a time, to make progress towards your goals. The holiday season makes it tougher, but not impossible. We just have to be more determined than ever to keep going. And we are worth the effort! Hugs, Pixie
Happy Wednesday! I hope you've been having a great week so far. I just wanted to wish you a very healthy Thanksgiving and to remind you to stay strong in the face of all temptation there is bound to be. Focus on your loved ones and everything you have to be thankful for, and not just the food. If you over indulge, just get back on track on Friday! Remember, its only a holiDAY, and not a holiWEEK. There are 34 days until New Years Day, so we still have plenty of time to make progress! Hugs, Pixie
"I know life can be discouraging at times, so I am giving you this. I want you to read it every time you feel overwhelmed, so that it may encourage you to move forward and look beyond your troubles. If ever you feel like giving up, don't. If you think you can't do something, try. If you try and fail, then try again. If you don't, you may always wonder why you gave up so easily.
Don't let life pass you by; the only way to get ahead is to hold your head up high. Try not to be discouraged when things get in your way; just climb that mountain inch by inch, and take life day by day.
Eventually you will find the strength you need to look toward those heights, not only to scale that mountain but to reach its mighty peak. Believe in whatever you think is worth believing in, and never stop until you feel you have done all that you can to secure your dreams. I have such faith in you, and I know that you are capable of achieving anything you want.
Always remember that I have faith in you." -Unknown
Just dropping in on you from the Healthy Holidays Challenge team to share one of my all time favorite quotes with you! (I find it so motivating that I've permanently placed it on my Spark page.) I hope it motivates you too. Thanks for being on the journey with me! Hugs, Pixie
"Think about how different life could be if you stopped emphasizing the end, the fix or getting there, and began enjoying each step of the way. If one moment was as good as the next. If the goal in life was not to fix yourself but to transform yourself. Here, after all, is a miracle; you are already on the journey. You already know and already have everything you need to continue. Relax, breathe, be kind to yourself and everyone else. Oh, there's one more thing; enjoy the ride!" (Geneen Roth)
