A start to a healthier me!

Hi there, my name is Ophelyn! You can call me Lyn if you'd like.

I am starting my journey again on Spark People! I plan on doing blogs/vlogs and checking in every day to keep myself on track.

Ever since I was a kid, I have been obese. Growing up, my mother worked in fast food and would often bring home left overs to eat and hardly cooked. I think this was a contributing factor to my weight gain as a child. As I got older, and bigger, I was teased a lot in school which ...

As I got older, and bigger, I was teased a lot in school which caused me to become really depressed. I quit school in the 6th grade and spent most of my time at home. I finally got my GED when I was 17, and later graduated college with an associates degree. I have extreme social anxiety which makes it hard for me to leave the house sometimes, but I hope this journey will help me overcome my anxiety.

For my first goal, I want to lose 20 lbs to go from 260 to 240 lbs. I plan on only making small goals to begin with so I don't get discouraged and are more likely to keep to them!

I know changing some of my bad habits(ice cream and cookies, anyone?) is going to be hard but I am not going to completely cut out the foods I love. I am going to learn, slowly, to eat the things I love in moderation and track it.

I am excited to start this journey to a much healthier and stronger me!

hello there, Lyn.

congrats on the 6 lbs. drop. Well done!!

you say you are pushed for space for your workout but don't overlook walking, marching, running, side-stepping on the spot. This is how I've knocked the pounds off. Wear a pedometer at all times (ALL steps count, not just workouts) Try to work up a light sweat or pant on every session, even on 5 minute sessions. Don't overdo it; stop when you ache or feel too tired. You'll very soon discover lots of ways to add movement to your life and see the pounds vanish.

Eat healthy food only, stay in your calorie range, drink 8 glasses water, track everything and ensure your food and fitness trackers are linked, to allow extra burned calories to be added to your daily calorie range. You should never feel hungry if you have set up your plan correctly and are following it to the letter.

Have fun, Lyn.......it's not difficult........but you have to WANT to lose the weight and then WORK AT IT.

Hugs,
Mia

Thank you for the comment on my page, Lyn. I am glad that I was able to help you when you were feeling down. Everyone needs encouragement in those situations. Just remember that I am always here to listen. I absolutely refuse to let you give up as I trust you won't let me give up. Let's do our bests to get to who we want to be. This is to be the better us.
