The Art of Living Well

Life is about attitude. We can smile and choose to be happy, or we can focus on the misery. There will always be suffering and failure, because we do not control every aspect of our environment or the way other people interact with us. How often are we willing to get back up again and keep going? Thomas Edison once said that he succeeded in inventing the electric light bulb because he "finally ran out of things that wouldn't work"! There will always be suffering and failure, because we do not control every aspect of our environment or the way other people interact with us. How often are we willing to get back up again and keep going? Thomas Edison once said that he succeeded in inventing the electric light bulb because he "finally ran out of things that wouldn't work"! Life is also about balance in the function of body, mind, and spirit. When we are either under or over functioning in any one of these realms, we have lost balance and have entered a state of less than optimal health. I wrote these words about balance when I first became a sparkmember, and I'm still working on finding that balance. The journey is not so much about weight issues for me, as it is about healthy function. Weight is a part of that process. But the battle must be won in the mind before it shows up in progress in the flesh!

My Goals:
Need to learn to keep moving toward my goals regardless of what happens along the way.

My Program:
It's all about BALANCE...consistency is the struggle...finding a level of exercise, for example, that the CFIDS will allow me to maintain without putting me back into bed with respiratory infections and for prolonged recuperation times...avoiding setting myself up for failure, frustration, and depression is crucial. I walk a fine line in the nutrition department as well...adequate caloric intake, no gluten, keeping the fat percentages enough to fuel the brain without stoking the cholesterol and preventing dietary sabotage!

Personal Information:
I have multiple health problems, so weight loss is only a "fly-buzz" in the back of my brain. I have CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue/Immume Deficiency Syndrome), Celiac, Hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, Asthma, Arthritis, Allergies. The CFIDS was the first diagnosis back in 1992. Celiac is the most recent, but may well be an underlying cause of many of the others. I have seen much improvement on a gluten-free diet. The "sacrifice" is worth it!

Other Information:
Creativity makes my world go around. I am fascinated by the capacity for invention of the human mind, the way we learn and process information. And I am in awe of the infinite Creator who made this world and placed us in it.

It’s been more than a year since you read my blog entry, “Beauty Comes in All Shapes and Sizes, Not Just Size 5”…I hope that the last year has brought you happiness and success in life. But above all, I hope that you have remembered how beautiful you are!

Thank you for the thoughtful comments you leave on my blogs. I've had too much going on since October, but hope to start moving in the right direction again now that Sis has moved in to help with Dad.
Hope all is going well for you.
Annie
