- I am a stubborn scientific atheist. I tend towards the Dawkins type of atheism, as I have seen religion function to disinfranchise and stagnate civilizations far more than help them. As long as you don't pray for me though, we'll be okay. -

My spark-iquette is as follows:

I love comments. I will comment on your blog, and I will be honest but kind or at least civil. I'm wordy, but I don't expect you to be for me.

When I receive comments, I love them. I read them carefully and savor each word.

I am not an "I love you too" person. Each comment I get, each sparkgoodie, is cherished, but I do not immediately respond with a comment or sparkgoodie in return. I want this journey to be cumulative and growing and real and appreciated-- so when I give a goodie, it's because there is something specific that I want to do for the recipient, be it encouragement, celebration, sympathy, or just plain goofiness. Same thing for comments.

I clean out my friends list regularly. I want this journey to be vibrant and reciprocal. I can't do that with 300 friends that never comment or flat out leave spark for 6 months. If you ever fall off the wagon, please sparkmail me if you come back & want to reconnect!

"I subscribe to the balance theory, that says that when I'm having a super rotten week, it means somewhere in the world someone is having the best week of their life. I try to be grateful for that, instead of angry and resentful. Once or twice I succeed." ~TURTLERASKIN, sparkfriend extraordinaire.

" Knowledge is not enough, people. It takes action to change the world. " ~FLY0NTHEWAL1, another sparkfriend of wisdom

"if I had a nickel for every piece of advice sent my way when it comes to "how you should eat"... I would pay for a brain transplant into the sexiest body I want to live in." ~IRISHBEANERGAL- an effing genius that makes me laugh my @ss off

"The good news is you are still here and Sparking. As long as you are doing that, you are still in touch with your healthy goals. " ~JAMIELOGICAL - a superior grounding force and realist whom I very much admire on spark.

"Don't bother to set goals, it's too easy to either fail, or achieve them and stop, just do as much with each day as you can. " ~STONECOT- a superwoman, who inspires me, makes me laugh, comforts me, helps me feel normal when I'm paranoid and not normal. She's simply awesome.

If you are not hungry enough to eat an apple, you are not hungry. ~Michael Pollan

If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be happy is to be able to become aware of oneself without fright. ~Walter Benjamin

My Goals:
August 2015

Maintain adequate breast milk supply while trying to lose weight.

Bike to work 3 times per week.
Walk to grocery store once per week.

My Program:
1. Track food.
2. Eat plant-based whenever I can (plus fish).
3. Work in daily movement as a habit (ie: take the stairs. park farther away. shovel the walk, etc.)
4. Work in physical workouts when I can.

Personal Information:
I go by para exclusively online. If you find a paraselenic online, it's likely me-- however, I'm not a whee! Online Friends! kinda person, so if you find me-- let me know who you are and how I know you if you want to connect outside of the sparkverse.

Other Information:
I'm from Minneapolis.

I'm a total bookworm, but a picky one. Same goes for movies, and music. I love cold weather. I love to bike and swim. I work at a university and have the good fortune to take classes there for almost nothing-- I hope to never, ever stop learning.

I have never done it in the microwave before. I always did stove top popcorn before, but what I would probably do is lightly toss some kernels in olive oil and stick them in a paper bag and fold it. It might work, but I have not tested it myself.

I really like your intro, it was real and we all need more of that! I also love to read but haven't picked one up in a while; you have reminded me of this and I aim to do a little reading today so thank you emoticon

Thank you for finding me and adding me as a friend.

You inspire me. Why? Because you are bold.
Honestly, I share many of the same values and beliefs you do (of the ones you've mentioned on your page), but I'm cautious about being open about them as a critical-thinking atheist in a sea of religious fanatics. I'm concerned I will attract a lot of unwanted attention, prayers, and bless you-s.
*rolls eyes*

I wish there were more folks like you.

See you around.

I really don't have a baseline, other than how my clothes fit and how I feel. I thought about it and thought about it, but in the end decided I just don't want to use the scale. I feel so good -- but I know I would not if I wasn't seeing any progress on the scale (and most of the time I don't). Maybe a better measure of the progress would be getting to the point where I can check off the "nailed it" box.
