Hello from Costa Rica! I'm a Costa Rican, living in Costa Rica.

I'm a proud member of the Awesome A Team - 5% Challenges.

My weight loss story:

For about 3 years, I was unable to get the motivation and determination (the big push) necessary to embrace and enjoy a complete change in my lifestyle seriously, until I got into the 5% challenges. I was always procrastinating the big start.

Thanks to the 2014 Summer 5% Challenge, I lost 5.4 pounds. And to the 2014 Fall 5% Challenge, I lost 4.6 pounds more and reached my goal weight (a total of 10 lbs lost).

I am extremely happy I've found invaluable friends along this lifelong journey here at SP.

I reached my goal weight on Nov 8, 2014. My center weight is 128 pounds. The lifelong, and so far very difficult, maintenance challenge continues.

My Program:
2017 Winter 5% Challenge
-Exercise Commitment
A minimum of 60 m of exercise, walking/hiking/other, 6 days a week. This may include 30 min of stretching and ST, 2 to 3 days a week.
-Nutrition Commitment
As for my diet, nothing specific but to eat as healthy as possible within my calorie range to maintain or lose weight.
I'm above my center weight. My main goal for this challenge is to go back to my center weight or below.

Personal Information:
I live in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica, in the mountains (at an altitude of 4757 ft). I'm 58, married for 39 years. Three grown children already gone, and three grandkids. I'm currently working as a part time caregiver at home for my granddaughter almost 7, and her baby brother 19 months old.
My first SparkFriend in this page is my daughter and my granddaughter (pic taken about 5 years ago).

Other Information:
Besides my family, I enjoy my daily routine of walking for two hours, caring for my pets, 4 dogs - 4 cats, the Internet forums -SP, reading, watching movies or TV series. I also love to travel overseas, but can't afford to do so as often as I'd like to.
I'm an atheist with total respect for people's beliefs.

We had a flooding from the rains in our walk in closet/storage closet/my old home office/where hubby's clothes hang and I use to have my dresser when my clothes were in there. We had to move every thing out. Workmen from the manager of our apartments helped me. The cardboard boxes in there were damaged but contents were not. Some window shades that were stored in there were. The workers than took a shop vac to the floor to clear out the water and set a heater in there. Will have to leave things out over night but was able to find places around the apartment for every thing. Burned some calories doing that extra bonus. It is not raining today and they wanted to get the crack in the foundation sealed. They are going to seal the windows tomorrow. This closet is an add on room that use to be the managers office when the building owner lived here, 30 years ago. Our apartment is really pretty big for this building. Hubby slept through every thing LOL.

Hi hope all is well with you. All is going good here. We fired our state caretaker as she was just a mess. We are making do with the VA caretakers twice a week for 4 1/2 hours each day. We had one come yesterday that was just a gem, wish we could keep her. We have no say so in who they send out but if we have one we don't like they will not send her again.
I have gotten in the habit of going out for fast food again and will stop that right now. I make a promise to you and me that I will not eat out anymore. That is how I put on the 50 pounds I took off and have now put back 10 on with eating that way. When I am going to be away from home I will pack a lunch.
