I'm Losing Hope!

Greetings Spark Friends!

It's almost July 2013, and each day I wake up, I HOPE it will be the day when I finally get in gear and start to lose weight and get more fit.

So what happens each day that hope doesn't become reality? I seem to always have excuses for never jumping on the health and fitness wagon. I live in Arizona where it is scorching outside for most of the summer. This is my reason for not exercising. I've been told that I am a great cook. I love ...

It's almost July 2013, and each day I wake up, I HOPE it will be the day when I finally get in gear and start to lose weight and get more fit.

So what happens each day that hope doesn't become reality? I seem to always have excuses for never jumping on the health and fitness wagon. I live in Arizona where it is scorching outside for most of the summer. This is my reason for not exercising. I've been told that I am a great cook. I love trying out new foods and recipes, and I can't stand repetitive, boring meals. This is my excuse for eating fattening foods and too many of them. I love sewing and crafting, and so these, too, get used as an excuse for not having time to properly take care of myself. Anything that seems feasible, I use as an excuse for putting off until tomorrow what I should be doing today.

Both of us, my husband and I, are in the same boat and are enablers of one another. Both of us want and need to lose a number of pounds so that we look and feel better, so we can fit into the clothes we own and keep, so we can live longer for each other and our girls. We have plans on retiring in another location some day, and our dreams include walking beaches and hiking up and down hills on a daily basis. Our dreams won't be met unless we start working on them now, however.

We have both been members of SparkPeople for a few years, and were once very successful in losing weight, so we know exactly what we need to do to get there again. As a matter of fact, we talk about it after every meal we overeat, every time we go out for dinner or to a party, every cocktail we consume, and every day we choose to sit around all day watching movies!

So it is with these confessions and declarations that all "Hope" is going to be gone now. As of now, I am going to be committed to "Doing" instead of just "hoping." The fact that I have failed many times in starting to be healthy and fit is certainly a factor. I believe that if this happens this time again, I will not wait days or weeks or months to restart. It will be immediate, without regrets. If at once you don't succeed, try, try again, they say! And that I will do, if need be.

I've reset my ticker to a smaller goal of 12 pounds or 190 pounds for now. I plan on taking on smaller challenges this time, as I think it's overwhelming and a recipe for disaster when you know that you have to lose multitudes of poundage, as I had my ticker set to before.

I am going to choose some indoor activities as my exercise route. I have many options from Zumba to weight lifting. I'll have to start small and work my way up. I'm am going to use my knowledge of good cooking to choose healthier and leaner foods. I know that there are tons of lower-calorie recipes out there, including some of my own. I'm am going to be diligent in tracking and planning my foods daily and staying within the limits I have set.

Finally, I think it may help me to blog every few days to make me think more about where I am at and what I need to "change up" in order to do better.

Today, June 27th, 2013, I challenge me to this noble duel -- NO WHIMPY 'HOPING!' Only 'DOING WHAT NEEDS DONE!'

OH MY GOSH don't scare me like that!!! I see "I've lost hope" and then I see *who* and then I rush to the Sparkpage for the scoop, and my heart sinks as I read the first paragraphs, my mind already whirling with what I can say to buoy you up, to let you know you just CAN'T lose hope, to tell you that you're one of my inspirations and role models around here, and then...

I was just reading the comment you left about Paula Deen..I have to say I agree with you 100%..Thankyou for standing up to reason..So many are not..but find it in their hearts to judge her. I feel very saddened about it all. Thank you again. !!

You're very close with the name. It did have the word Truly in it. Love your derby hats and especially that red one. I would like to wear that to a picnic.
