Logging what I eat and how I exercise every day is my key to keeping my weight in check.

When I had my hips replaced in 2013, I had to start over again. My doctor and my counselors and friends were telling me I needed to lose weight. I was on blood pressure pills and pills for depression. My anxiety level was over the top.

In March 2014, II was again "allowed" to exercise after the surgeries.I started by walking with a walker about half a block, then resting. It took me about six months to lose the 42 pounds. Within a few months, I was walking 5Ks on a regular basis.

SPARK really was what really did it. I've been in maintenance for over 2 years and the Leader of three teams.

Spark keeps me on track. My husband has passed away, and it would have been easy for me to gain some of the weight back. However, with keeping up my exercise routine and tracking my food intake throughout his decline and death, I've stayed under my "NO-GO Zone of 130. Now I'm working with the Wellness Center at Ft. Lewis to get down to 120 and/or a BMI of 25.

I've created a whole support system of wonderful friends and become much more independent and confident.

I'm 71. Please...Don't let "eventual decline" get you. It doesn't HAVE to happen. At least, not until the end of life. My mother was taking exercise classes and walking daily at least until 85 years old. I'm stronger and healthier NOW than I've been in the last 50 years.

To reach the right weight for maximum energy.

To get the Executor's Book ready for my kids.

To learn "tough love" and set boundaries in my relationships with my adult children.


My Program:
I'm keeping up the exercise routine established with my Personal Trainer. Using SparkPeople every day. I'm eating within the 150 calorie range prescribed for me at Ft. Lewis.



Personal Information:
I'm 71 years old and happy with my life. Glad to be healthy and able to walk again.

I live in Lacey, Washington.

Love to create things, including yarn projects, friendships, and activities to share.
