Patty Klaver

It's been three and a half years since I began using Spark People. I can't believe how much I have learned about myself! I am eating better and am more fit than I have been in any other time of my life. Most importantly, I have come so very far in improving myself mentally. I know my weaknesses and, with some great suggestions from other Sparkers, I am still learning and wanting to make changes to make me better physically and emotionally. I am trying to stay fresh and motivated. I'm ready for the challenge and the change for the better! I have come to rely on the encouragement and support that I get from fellow Sparkers. I'm grateful for what I have learned from others.

My Goals:
I want to eat and exercise correctly every day. I want to improve myself: learn something new every day, stay in a schedule that is good for me, and help others when I can.

My Program:
I am learning more with each passing day and finding more ways to improve myself. Stress and anxiety have been my biggest problems and I've been working hard to overcome them. I sometimes let myself slack on my schedule and am always working on that.

Personal Information:
I am from Detroit. I lived in Alabama for 14 years, but came back home to be back with family. I have two daughters: Sarah lives in Alabama and Sherry lives in Nova Scotia. I'm hoping they move home soon. My email address is pattyklaver@yahoo.com

Other Information:
I love reading, arts and crafts, sports, and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy spending time on SP.

We do seem to have a lot in common! I love bargain hunting, just about more than anything. I love yard sales too!

Oh, and yeah, the quiet in the evening is a must. If I'm too busy in the evenings I will never fall asleep that night.

Hope you're having a great day!

Recipe for Christmas All Year Long

Take a heap of child-like wonder
That opens up our eyes
To the unexpected gifts in lifeó
Each day a sweet surprise.

Mix in fond appreciation
For the people whom we know;
Like festive Christmas candles,
Each one has a special glow.

Add some giggles and some laughter,
A dash of Christmas food,
(Amazing how a piece of pie
Improves our attitude!)

Stir it all with human kindness;
Wrap it up in love and peace,
Decorate with optimism, and
Our joy will never cease.

If we use this healthy recipe,
We know we will remember
To be in the Christmas spirit,
Even when it's not December.
Have a wonderful and bless day.

I'm Thankful for You

Thanksgiving is the appointed time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,
we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time
paying attention to problems.
We give our energy
to those who cause us trouble
instead of those who bring peace.
Starting now,
let's be on the lookout
for the bits of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people who
bring love and light to everyone
who is blessed to know them.
You are one of those people.
On Thanksgiving,
I'm thankful for you.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Patty thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog. I consider you one of my closest friends on Spark and admire you so much.
You suffer so much but don't let it keep you down. You keep going.
I use a walker as my balance is not too good. I cannot carry a pillow.
What hurt worst was when I was lying on that belt like bed for the cat scan. I asked for an extra pillow for my head but the scanner wouldn't work right. I told the tech that I had broken a vertebrae and he put a wedge under my knees. This helped a lot. The girl didn't seem to care or maybe just didn't know what to do.
I broke my T-9 and they were going to do a simple surgery but he said my osteoporosis was too bad and he was afraid he would damage other vertebrae.

"Every day of our lives we are faced with a choice.
The choice to BE, or to be truly AMAZING.
Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
No matter who you are, or what you do, you absolutely, positively do have the power to TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE."
