Okay 2010 here we go...

So as I recover from end of year 2009's experience with Bacterial Meningitis, I am thankful to see 2010. That experience has made me appreciate life. Vanity is not the reason for me to eat healthy and exercise, my overall health is! 1/20/10.

Beginning Spark

Beginning Spark

I started Spark in March of 2009 for the purpose of eating healthier and exercising regularly to lower my cholesterol. I had it taken a year ago and it was borderline high. I chose not to go on medication and trying to make natural changes first.

July 2009 update...Optimal numbers with bloodwork taken this month. I'm so happy. I gave up smoking at 40 had a beautiful son at 41 and want to be here to watch him grow up for many years.

I will say, because of my eating disorder background I am obsessing about the eating and exercising and I'm having a harder time than I am willing to admit to others. I need to continue to maintain this healthy lifestyle, but I tend to be extreme and unrealistic. I will let a bad day with food ruin my whole week. I know better and have come to far for this. So I continue to look for some kind of compromise with my weight and health and not being a perfectionist.

My Goals:
Maintain my current weight.

Stick to my "program" below.

Be able to touch my toes! Be more flexible.

My Program:
Eat "clean". Mainly a "South Beach Diet" way of eating.

As little refined sugar as possible. It's my weakness.

I will put fruit back into my day.

Exercise... Cardio three times a week. Strength train every other day. 200 crunches a night. Stretch every morning.

Personal Information:
Jersey girl my whole life. I have moved to the "woods". I'm a little home sick. I'm only about 45 minutes from where I grew up my whole life, but it's like a different world here. We are renovating a log home! So not me. I came from a comfy condo with all the amenities and close to all the shopping I loved. Now I take pictures of bears and spend weekends landscaping etc. :)

Other Information:
I am a recovering anorexic. Been through a lot of professional help and was hospitalized twice when in my 20's. I have been doing well for many years, but it's easy to get caught up in the weight loss and going too far. I have to constantly remind myself I am doing this for my health.

I stopped excersizing regularly when I became pregnant. Now 4 years later I have added ST but not consistent with cardio. During my pregnancy I gained 65 pounds. I weighed 190. It was so hard to carry that extra weight I had never been heavier than 138 and that was with super heavy bodybuilding in my early 20's. I think for the first time I felt overeating was justified. I know it wasn't. I lost the first 50 quickly the last 15 took some work. I also smoked before I became pregnant and being in my 40's the metabolism isn't what it was in my 20's!
