Hi! I am 57, married with one son. I'm looking to get back on the healthy eating and fitness horse. So far the healthy eating has been easier to achieve than the fitness. But the journey has just begun.

My Goals:
Initial goal was to create a healthy lifestyle that will allow me to stop taking medication for high tryglycerides. I started meds in December 2008 when my weight peaked at 189.

By improving my nutrition, my weight declined by 20 lbs within 10 months, but trigs and cholesterol remained high.

Update May 16, 2012 physical: trigs are normal and I am officially off meds. Thanks Sparkpeople!

My Program:
My plan is to eat on the low side of a daily goal of 1500-1850 calories.

Fitness plan is to build in consistency and routine first.

Weight goal of 150 based on 1/2 lb per week for 26 weeks was targeted for March 17th. This was met on March 3rd, 2012.

Switched goals from weight loss to adding muscle in December 2012. Started a weight lifting program 3x week.

Calorie goal is 2891 a day, with 3334 on training days.

Personal Information:
We live in a coastal town in North Carolina.

Running History:

Thanks for your comments on your fitbit. After careful thinking, I decided it's too soon to buy a tracker. I just started back to the gym last week, and for now, need to keep maintaining a consistency of attendance. 4 visits in ten days. I'm glad to have started out on the right foot. Thanks, Paul. Glenn

Some good choices there - except for the sonic ca-ca that was Sat Nite Fever.

Paul you stated: Not only am I missing the green thumb, my handyman genes skipped at least one generation!
My husband said to tell you that he has a spare pair of jeans! emoticon

Sure Paul I could give some TLC to your yard...if you are willing to come and help us with cement work...having to re-build side stoop aka sstep and building it larger...in the next month.
