Living to learn and learning to live!

I am a christian, 53 year old Catholic, married 29 years to my husband, retired transit work. Greatful to be in good health, but this menopause and hypothyroid, is putting so many unwanted pounds on me, i am 5'4" and weigh 197. Looking forward to digging my heals in and to lose this weight thru my sparks friends (teams) I am not computer savvy, so please be patient with me responding back to you. I see there is alot of motivation, and that sparks does work. Good luck and God Bless ...

PDELMARCROSSON1

I saw your post on "Fans of Spark People" about wanting support. Looking at your web page it looks like you are doing what you need to be doing to get that support. You need to join teams and be active on those teams in the daily threads. However some teams are not regularly active and that will not help you much. You need to find a team or two that is active daily and they will help encourage you and challenge you to get to the goals you want.

I signed up for many teams when I first started because I really did not know what the teams did or were designed to do. Since I have dropped all those teams but two to stay active with. One team I am on is more active than the other and it really helps me alot. I am making good friends there and getting the support I need. If you do not have an active team feel free to check us out at: Come on, Light Your Fire!

Welcome to spark and have a great weekend
Susan

emoticon I received your mail. You are a spark buddy already. Feel free to mail me with anything that you need. I know and understand what it is to be unmotivated and to feel alone. That is what is so special about SP, you are never alone. There are literally 100 even 1000's of members that you can reach out to.

emoticon emoticon together.

I added you as my friend :) I saw your message board post. Though there is a bit of an age differents weight wise right now we are exactly the same. I also know what it's like to be lonely and feel like you are hitting rock bottom. If you need someone to talk to, I am here. From a girl who has gotten help, any kind of counseling can make a huge difference during a time like you are experiencing.

emoticon Greetings and emoticon - I'm really glad you've joined us!!

Congrats on getting active with SparkPeople - it's a great community, wonderful resources and fantastic support- it's also lots of fun and easy to make friends because we're all in this together.

Sometimes the best way to start is to just pick a small goal such as drinking 8 glasses of water a day or eating 5 fruits and veggies plus a small exercise goal such as increasing whatever you've been doing by 10%. There's a great article explaining how one or two changes can lead to long-term success - you can read the article at http://www.dailyspark.com/blog.asp?p
ost=one_healthy_change_leads_to_another . I like the way a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE is emphasized here instead of a 'quick fix wonder diet' and another nice thing about SparkPeople is that we have permission to be human - we don't have to change everything at once or be in a hurry to reach our goals. Take a few baby steps and then a few more and before you know it, you'll have completed a long journey - I hope you enjoy this community as much as I have - it teaches us how to make positive lifetime changes because that's the only thing that will work over time!
