Cookiemonster needs to lose 40 pounds

Over the last 20 years I slowly gained 40 pounds, and I've gone from a size 6 to a size 12. Now I'm trying to loose them all, so I can be my old self again. I want to loose weight in as sensible way: by eating healthier foods, cutting down on snacks and taking up exercise once I lost the first 10-15 pounds. I hope to find - and offer - some moral support because a big lifestyle change is not easy.

My Goals:
To lose the extre weight for good, in a healthy way. To look and feel better and hopefully wear euro size 38 or 36 (US size 8 or 6?) again.

My Program:
Right now (autumn 2009) I am slowly changing my eating habits. I already ate veggies almost every day, but I didn't eat enough fruit.
Step 1 - I eat skim yoghurt + granola for breakfast on most days.
Step 2 - I try to eat more fruit (2 servings a day).
Step 3 - Get more everyday exercise, such as walking to the city centre and walking and biking to the supermarket

Personal Information:
I live in Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands.
I am in secretarial school to bcome a legal secrtary, and working 3 day per week as a medical typist. So I am sedentary for most of the week. I walk to school and ride my bike to work though.

Other Information:
Work as a volunteer for a hospital radio station.
