I Am Worth Every Effort!

HI! My name is Kirsten. I have been dieting on and off for the past 35 years, and I am proof that diets don't work.

Now I am 51 years old, obese, have high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and IBS. It is time to get serious about taking better care of myself. I am working to make permanent changes in my lifestyle and get off the diet roller coaster forever.

Consistency with healthy eating and exercising.
Being patient with myself and accepting slow progress.
Moderation!
Not expecting perfection from myself.
Practicing positive self talk.
Accepting setbacks, forgiving myself, and then moving forward.
Never give up.

I am committed to doing this no matter how long it takes. I have wanted to be thinner and fit my whole adult life, and it is time to finally make it happen! I deserve it! I am worth every effort!

My Goals:
To practice the 3 healthy habits MOST days:
1. Eat right
2. Exercise at least 20 minutes
3. Drink 8 glasses of water

To no longer need high blood pressure medicine

Ultimate Goal:

To weigh 130, and then maintain my healthy weight and lifestyle for the rest of my life.


My Program:
Exercise
1.Walking 20 or more minutes daily
2.Strength training: 10 minutes, 3 times a week

Eating
1. Stay within recommended calorie range (1250-1800)
2. Aim for 5 servings fruits/veggies
3. Drink 8 glasses H20

Mind
1. Positive self talk: 5 minutes daily
2. Meditation: 10 minutes daily


Personal Information:
I am 51, married, and live in Portland, Oregon. I am a Special Ed. School Bus Driver. (the short bus!)

I am an animal lover (especially cats) and nature freak. I like movies, TV, reading, crafts, the internet, science, art and music. I have a cat, a chihuahua mix and a pet marginated tortoise (Testudo marginata).

My favorite activity is hiking out in nature.

I paint pebbles and rocks for a creative outlet.

I have depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, psoriasis and IBS.

Other Information:
I want to feel younger, healthier, and happier!
