My commitment to fitness will be to keep this body moving throughout every day but also include a minimum of 30 minutes of structured exercise 6 days per week.
On the intake side of things, I am following the SP food guide but tweaking it to include only foods with high anti-oxidant values and anti-inflammatory properties. I guess you could call it an anti-arthritis diet.

So...today was water exercise. Actually, I was a little disappointed b/c the class is so big (very popular, obviously) and it was hard to hear. But, I did it as well as I could. I'll go 3 times a week and if I can, on Saturdays I'll go for water walking. They have time set asde for that each day, but some of it is at 5:30 in the morning!! You own't find me there at that time of the day! LOL! I'm excited to be doing something a little different and fun. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog. If I get everyone responded to soon, I'll maybe write another one I've been thinking about...well, tomorrow maybe! Have a great day, Carol. Hope everything esle is going well, too! Hugs, Jeannie emoticon

HI Carol !!

Hows the swimming going ? and the Summah? SO SORRY I've been busy and yet, NOT busy !! Busy with the 3 teams,,, but, yet from the recovery ,,, I am also EXHAUSTED !! I had my cast changed on Fri, and today is the FIRST DAY I have NOT hurt quite bad !!! I was used to the yellow one,, and it had gotten loose some,, cos the swelling went down,, now I have little swelling, so the new one really FITS !! that can hurt if I over do it,, or even it seems on days I barely move !

It comes off on the 7th,, you KNOW as WELL AS I DO,, I WANNA go swimming on the 8th !! LOL !! but, I'll be on crutches,, and NO DOUBT still restricted as to what I can/can't do. Tonight I was steaming my floors, but that's EASY to do !!! And it smells GREAT !!! I LOVE steaming my floors,, they shine so much,, it just makes my heart happy.

Carol, this is like a soap opera!! This morning I got to the Y at just the right time, but when I got into the lobby, it was filled with older women just sitting and standing around. Of course, I asked the nearest one if she was here for water exercise. She said yes, but the pool is closed! Closed??? After all this? Some problem with the pumps and they needed to circulate the water, etc. But, they said it would open for open pool time an hour earlier than usual. I went to run some errands and back to the pool at 10:00 and got in the water. I spent 30 minutes just walking, treading water and a little bit of "jogging" if you can call it that. I kept moving the whole time. It felt great. Tomorrow morning there is open swim again at 9:15, but I may go early enough to watch a bit of the earlier water exercise class and see if I might be able to do that one, too. Don't want to try too much too soon, but on the other hand, if I don't challenge myself a little, it may not do me too much good!! So...yes, I finally made it...sort of!! LOL!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'll dance with you!! Actually, it was 4 pounds, but I hadn't updated my Spark page, just the challenge page. So, I'm really smiling today! emoticon The down side is that I won't start water exercises until Monday. Silly me for thinking I could just drop in and sign a paper or two and make $$ arrangements. No, I had several pages to fill out including bank info for draft deductions, etc. So...I missed the friday times, but no worry, I'll be there Monday. These pounds came off strictly on what I was able to do around here AND being really careful with my calories. I'm planning to try my best to continue that. And speaking of which...congrats to you on that 1# loss!! One a week until we hit goal would be so awesome, wouldn't it?? Have a great weekend, Carol!! Thanks for the great Goodie!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi, Carol, and thanks for the pool Goodie! So, here's the story...I went Monday to check it out, get the info on pricing times of classes, etc. But, I wanted to be sure before I paid for something I might not use, so today I went to watch part of a water exercise class and also another more traditional class called Enhance Fitness or something like that. Either would work, but I want to do the water. The only down side is that the water class is only M, W, and Friday. There is another one that meets T/Th, but I'll have to see if I'm up to it. The pool is open for water walking from 5:30 to 7 am...nope, I'll never ever make that, so have to stick to the other. This is a smaller branch of the Y from the neighboring town. I'm happy it's here and I think it will be a great place to start!! emoticon My plan is to go up on Friday morning to get signed up and then do my first session. I'm really hopeful it won't make the sciatica and worse and might even help it.

Tomorrw it is off to see my Mom. Did I tell you she is 92? I haven't been up to see her since before DH had his surgery, so it's been a month. Our kids were up when they were here, so that was nice and helped break up the time a bit. My sister is in a nursing home and I'll stop to see her, too, or possibly we'll go to lunch somewhere.

Oh yes...sticking with my 1300-1400 calories a day and I think I'm making good progress. I've been fooling around for way too long. Have a great day and rest of the week! Hugs, Jeannie emoticon
