MaintainingPopsy

Interests: history, pets, genealogy, reading and now, after the earthquakes, geology! And, of course, maintaining the progress I have made towards a healthy lifestyle and weight. I have found various challenges help in this: now I have decided to concentrate on two: the Challengers of Hogwarts which provides a creative outlet and the Biggest Loser which is a 12 week challenge. Between the two I will be challenged most weeks of the year. Just now I am roaring in the Powerful Prism Panthers' den (BLC) and enjoying art, culinary and writing projects in C of H.
I follow A PLANT-BASED eating plan and keep as close as possible to its basic tenets. So that means generous servings of leafy greens and other vegetables (GBOMBS) and smaller servings of nuts and seeds.
I like walking but also keep active with gardening and I try to do ST and use DVDs for yoga and Pilates.

More than year on from joining SparkPeople I need to deal with different issues from those associated with weight loss. Now it's how to stay at a healthy and realistic weight, how to avoid the dreaded Kilo Creep! As ever, SP and SFs are an encouragement and support - I just have to act on it!

My Goals:
April 2014: Goals still the same: To get back to my maintenance weight range (nearly there!) and healthy lifestyle.
To give some time to hobbies and interests.
To be as energetic and generally healthier as I can at my age so that I can enjoy my retirement for many years and to the full.
To become a tough old lady!

My Program:
I'm moving more towards a completely plant-based eating plan: I am tracking food less diligently than before because I find it difficult but I need to find ways around this. So I am working on entering recipes that I will be able to use for this. I track exercise daily. Above all, I am still working on changing behaviour patterns. Without changes in the latter I don't think I would sustain progress in the others.

Personal Information:
Living in New Zealand, so the seasons are usually different on the challenges.
Married to a Kiwi-Australian who is managing Type 2 diabetes.
Kept busy with husband, 3 cats, canary, gardening, reading, SP, genealogy, word games, puzzles. I used to knit and crochet and would like to find time to pick them up again.

Other Information:
When you're in a hole, stop digging.

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution

Enough's as good as a feast.
Change is not always progress.

Thank you for the return friend add-- I noticed you as a new member of the blc25 leadership lounge and loved your username.... reading your page made me see you as a definite sister figure-- when not infected, I follow a mcdougall vegan diet, so finding another blcer who is plant based is really excited. (I plan on going back to veganism post-delivery-- I just didn't didn't want to deal with docs and everyone getting all up on me about my veganism and pregnancy... that, and for the first four months or so all I could eat was cheetos...) but I digress.

Excited to see you around for blc 25... hope that you have a good break!
