Fight the Fight. Finish the Race. Keep the Faith.

After five years on SparkPeople, I have made some noteworthy self-discoveries. This is the first time I have ever made a lasting commitment to exercise regularly, made a deliberate decision and consistent effort to lose weight, and believed myself capable of reaching my goals. At the end of the day, the degree of your mental fortitude is the determining factor in your success. Whatever your situation that is something you have the power to control!

You left some great comments on my blog -- it's OK if it doesn't make popular blog, I just like to introduce thought provoking ideas into as many people as I can, and blogging is a way of doing it.

Hey Trisha!

So glad to hear that you finally got outside and enjoyed nature (I hope)... But I am sorry that you developed shin splints, try taking it a little easier as you get used to trekking outside, it's definitely NOT like walking the treadmill...

I did get a bike, but not a stationary one... It's a hybrid, a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike... Haven't had the opportunity to ride it yet, perhaps this weekend.

I'm also glad that you're reading The Thirteenth Tale also! Hope you like it, am really interested in your review...

Regarding racquetball: I don't know if you enjoy court sports, but if you do and you want to try rb, take a few lessons first! Don't want you getting bashed in the eye or something... When you're ready, find someone who's a "B" player or above to teach you, OK?

I really enjoy keeping in touch with you and reading your "Weekly Wrap-ups". I commend you on your stick-to-itivness, you among a very few are an inspiration to me, so thank you...

Had to spend a couple of days in the hospital last weekend, I ask that you keep me in your prayers as you go about your day, right now I'm looking at a possible angiogram in the next few weeks, hoping I won't have to have it though...

Blessings,

Ted emoticon emoticon

HI!! Purchased a bicycle yesterday, so I'll be doing a combination of stationary and road bicycling for cardio besides the racquetball... BTW, I wanted to ask you if you've ever tried the sport (racquetball)... If you want a REALLY good workout that burns tons of calories, get together with a friend or two and get out on the court. I think you might enjoy it...

Hiya, Prot!
Well, I, too, have not been active on SP for some time now - (to say the least!) emoticon
Got very close to my goal weight this past June - and then - wow (!) everything kinda fell apart. My husband developed a DVT in his leg, which, even after a period of hospitalization, as well a series of blood thinning drugs, has proven a very slow and tedious and still on-going healing process.
During this time, we also lost, due to old-age health issues, two of our beloved cats. One of them in June and our oldest (15 years old) this October. I still grieve very much for them. I am sure you understand.
Anyway, with all that was happening and much of it happening at the same time, I just gave in to every temptation, food wise, that passed before my eyes. COMFORT - Blessed Comfort .... False comfort , to be sure, and ever so momentary and temporary that sense of comfort. Yet, I knowingly embraced it for exactly what it was. And alas, here I am - Not only having regained what I lost but adding a few extra pounds for good measure. It is a rude awakening.

Still, you and I both know what it takes to get "there" - to get the goal line. Actually, you are waaaay ahead of me at the moment and I am proud of you and I hope to TRY to catch up with ya soon. So, here's too getting back - to getting back - on the right track.
emoticon emoticon cuz we ARE emoticon
