Bright Beginnings

After struggling with my weight for the vast majority of my life, I am tired of looking in the mirror and hating what I see. When I began dating the man who is now my husband, I weighed 120 lbs. I'm now the biggest I've ever been at 178 lbs. I've been diagnosed with IBS and acid reflux after over 3 years of medical challenges, and I'm ready to create a new, healthy relationship with food.

We're hoping to start a family in the near future, and I want to have a healthy pregnancy. I also want to make sure that our children grow up with a healthy relationship with food & exercise.

This is my journey to become a healthy me!

Day 2 of the 5K Training was a little rough on me - my knees and shins got pretty sore, but I pushed through. TRX was awesome, and I am certainly feeling the burn today, especially in my back. All those planks in every move better make my abs & back toned!

The day you start your training is the day you become a runner. It doesn't matter if you use the run/walk method like I do or run straight through...you are a runner. I started running for the first time ever June 2009 and I have not looked back. This simple activity has changed my life in so many ways and I am not done yet at the age of 52! You can accomplish the impossible when you stay patient and consistent with your training and I am a perfect example. I will be running half marathon #3 this Saturday and I eagerly await the start of the race. It is my wish that you find the joys with running much like I have.

Best wishes!!

Yes let's definitely check in - Wednesday or Thursday? :)

It's my spring break from school so I am taking advantage of the freedom I have in my schedule. I still have a lot of homework but without the hour commute to campus (30 min each way) plus 5 classes I have a lot more time to go to the gym. So I plan on going to the gym tomorrow, Wednesday, and Friday. Just doing the usual workout for now: 30 reps on the weight machines I like (I do one or two that work your core, arms, legs, and even an ab one) paired with 30 minutes of cardio. I'm trying to both tone my muscles/trim the fat as well as get back into long distance running, so right now I'm working on running to build my endurance.

I definitely need something I can buy or do at home on the days I can't get to the gym. I know once school picks back up I'll be lucky if I make it there one weeknight.

Good luck with your workouts, girl! Time for bed for me!
