Here I go again!

40 hit me hard. I realized I was headed for lots of health problems if I didn't make some changes. Was already noticing some, like hormonal issues, etc. After trying an elimination diet last year for allergies, I realized that I have a few trigger foods: sugar & grains. This realization answered my long standing question... "WHY is it when my husband & I eat the same amount of pasta, that I was starving 1 hour later, but he was still stuffed 3 hours later?" It made no sense to me. Now ...
Now it does. Carbs do not affect him like they do me.

I've tried many diets in the past. Only 1 got me down to my goal weight over 13 years ago. It was Herbalife, but it was an expensive protein shake & I never learned to eat properly. Weight Watchers was also pricey for my poor wallet, easy to cheat on & I CRAVED food. I don't remember craving food with Herbalife though. Probably b/c I was off most carbs with that one.

This year, I tried the Paleo Diet on advice from my N.D. I lost a few pounds, but no more & got frustrated. I like the concept & plan to return to it as a maintenance style diet.

So....after being inspired by my parent's recent weight loss, I'm now on a more structured diet for what I believe my body needs to stabilize itself. Carb restriction. I'm loosely following Lyle McDonald's "The Rapid Fat Loss Handbook" which is a PSMF style diet. Eat lots of PROTEIN, little carbs, moderate fat. Some PSMF diets say as little fat as possible, but with my history of gallbladder issues, I want to keep my bile flowing.
