Purrlgirl's Turning Point

I have been SparkPeople on and off for more than a few years...my success has varied. This fall, I have had both knees replaced and am determined that this is my big turning point. My activity level is increasing as I heal and I now need to take better care of myself nutritionally. The only way I seem to be able to accomplish this is to track my food here...so I'm back.

Last movie I watched: Room
Book I am currently reading: Avenue of Mysteries by John Irving

My Goals:
My goal has been reset yet again. I only wish that I had returned sooner. Maybe this will be the year that I finally find success.

I have always been a physically active person and as my knees deteriorated, so did my ability to bicycle, garden, and even walk longer distances. I have new knees now. YAY! So the comfort food needs to go and the activity level needs to increase.

I'd also like to get rid of the blood pressure medication that my doctor , to my dismay, recently insisted that I take.

My Program:
I am loosely following The 17 Day Diet and I am counting calories and staying within my SparkPeople range. I have finally relented and cut WAY back on starchy carbs...I am not eating chemical substitutes for food. I am trying to get out and move for a bare minimum of 20 minutes every day.

Personal Information:
I am a rabid MotoGP fan which is totally out of character. I was never interested in sports before. Now, I am consumed by motorcycle racing.

I wish I could walk in high heeled shoes.

I have been making something every day for going on four years.

I am also a former building trades pipefitter, (floundering) ceramist, cat lover, knitter, movie watcher, clothes horse, procrastinator, time waster, bad poet, reader, haphazard gardener, novice assemblage artist...

Other Information:
I am not good at exposing myself on websites and message boards.

I have already said way too much.
