    Glad to see that you are meeting with a diabetes counselor, she will be the best person to help with your food. Generally I agree that carbs are not the enemy, and that "good carbs" are part of a good diet. BUT my father has diabetes and his nurses told me that with diabetes sugar, including those you get from carbs, ARE the enemy. They said that for him eating anything with sugar or carbs in the morning is bad. They suggested he eat protein, like eggs and bacon. So it sounds like you are right. But definitely check with a medical professional!

    emoticon Glad to see you aren't giving up! You CAN do this, but it takes commitment. If you can't walk much there are some chair exercises in the fitness section of the site that might help. It is possible to lose without exercise, but much easier if you do exercise. Also, will help to regulate your blood sugar, which is a big benefit!

    there are also teams of folks with diabetes, which should help with some ideas and support. The more you interact with people on the site, the more success you should have.

    I am 'only' 61, but working hard to keep my heart disease from getting worse. It is worth it. You can do it!

    Welcome back. We are glad to hear from you. I eat oatmeal with fruit, 1% milk for breakfast and that helps me make it until mid morning snack. Just take it one day at a time.
