    Moxie, I love your profile info. emoticon In particular, the part that reads; “I am 62, and feel like 50, and act like 40”. I could have written those same words. Well, maybe by modifying ever so slightly one little detail. But (ouch), hey… emoticon

    OK, now let’s move on to Thelma, (known by a guy named Steve, as Lynn). Yes, she does appear to be kicking our azzes, but she really isn’t. I mean, NOT REALLY. Let me explain …

    First off, I have never recorded physical fitness minutes on Spark. When I first started here, it seemed enough to record my calories, which I continue to do today. The thing is, I am nearly always doing physical things, indoors and out. I always said I work like ten men and six boys all working together, but I think I might even work harder than that, at least at times. Anyway, back early on, I would see some of the goofy things some spark buddies, at the time, (they are all gone now), would record as fitness minutes. Like, took a bath for 30 minutes – played the piano for 10 minutes – chewed on a T-Bone steak for 15 minutes, and I thought, “Dear God Almighty …. Are they kidding me?!!!” Anyway, after coming indoors from doing some major landscaping projects on the property, which might have included the unloading of 3 truckloads of river rock that day, I would see those dumb azz fitness minutes recorded by others and soon came to the conclusion that they were absolutely meaningless. And some really were!

    Ahhh, but then there were others, people like you and Thel, who actually recorded real fitness minutes, physical minutes, and seeing those was always, always inspiring. Anywho, after reading your comment today and after being inspired by your own personal pursuit of optimal health, I recorded today 60 minutes of shoveling snow. Will I keep recording fitness minutes? Maybe. It might actually inspire me to get back to the gym, though, like you, I much prefer just getting outside and walking the trails. Right now, though, it is too dang cold!

    OK, back to the Thelma and the false appearance of her kicking our azzes.

    Well, as you well know, my dearest Queen, the girl lives in Maine, which is equivalent to living at the North Pole. I mean, good lord almighty, it is cold and snowing there in the middle of July (well, almost that early), so she is quite used to winter and it cannot bother her in nearly the same way that it does us. Yes, it is true. For Thel to go out to the garage to do a workout on a day like today, would be like you and I deciding to take a walk on the beach in the middle of summer. Like, duh! Give me a break! Oh, she will refute my words, (you know how she is!) though she knows they are true. She cannot begin to understand the horrible affect that winter has on us. We are helpless victims (God, but not libs, though the word ‘helpless’ sounds like a strong indication), to a climate that dictates our every movement – or lack thereof. But what excuse does penguin woman have??? If she misses one day of exercising, I think it only right that we call her out on it. After all, isn’t that what REAL Spark Buds should do (rhetorical question, only)-(I know you will agree).

    OMG!!! Brainstorm!!! Maybe we need to approach our fitness minutes the same way many here do, (at least on these brutally cold days when we are house-bound), but with a slight modification. Say, we only THINK about exercising – like, taking a long hike in our mind. We THINK about it really, REALLY hard for an hour (longer if you have time, or even less if you don’t), and record our ‘thinking’ minutes?
    Moxie (!) (God, this is sooo brilliant!) we could walk the Appalachian trail …. We could climb Mt. Everest … We could swim the English channel ……. And all done in the comfort of our warm homes - all done in our very physically exerted minds! Wow, I am starting to feel the burn already!

    Ohhh crap! It won’t do, Moxie! I just thought of something. If we go with that plan, though only for the duration of these harsh winter months, you just know that Penguin Woman will want to copy our routine. Grrrr! Though she has no excuse to not get off her azzz and do her exercises each day, sadly, pathetically, she will follow our lead, which would then quickly lead to her utter demise. God, she can be such a pill!

    So, in order to keep her on track, we will simply have to be braver than any people on God’s green earth – and on the days when the outdoor temperature is only a tiny bit bearable, we must muster ourselves to face the elements and do what we must do to keep that weak wench on track.

    It’s not easy being a REAL spark buddy …. but hey … we do it so well ….

    Have to type this on the phone - Grrrrrrrrrr. No internet connection. Modem might be shot. 😬 Anywho, you did gooood last nite skipping the alcohol. Not that it wudda been bad if you had had some, mind ya. Phone won’t let me type all my message!!!
