Jamie's Get Fit Log

Welcome to my SparkPage! For 12/12/12 I decided to rediscover my sparkpeople account with my older sister. I'm a college student in Iowa currently, and want get to a healthy weight. I also want a boyfriend, but that's a side goal. If I have to be single, I might as well focus on improving myself. It's really hard to exercise regularly with my sporadic schedule, but I'm hoping sparkpeople will keep me on task over this extravaganza. No negativity allowed! I want to gain confidence in myself!

My Goals:
I have some serious goals and some petty goals, but here ya go:
-Get down to a size 9 in jeans again
-Improve my overall wellness
-Get a boyfriend
-Dress like I care about myself
-Weigh 145 by my birthday or less than my eldest sister
-Run a mile in under 10 min

My Program:
A work in progress, I try to workout 5 days a week minimum and have given up sweets indefinitely(or at least until my birthday in April). 3/12/13 edit:don't eat sweets for a year.
Edit 2/1/13:
Restarted my no sweets kick until April.
I improve what I can with my college schedule.

Other Information:
On a side note, I want to lose weight because I've always been kinda chubby, and I want to have kids someday. Women in general are just doomed to have more trouble with their weight than men. I don't want to have even more trouble with my weight later, if it doesn't have to be as bad as it would if I started off badly. I want to make it out of this ditch before it gets deeper. I want to learn to love my body, and I want to like my stomach at least once before I have children someday.

“The difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is not in the event itself but how you think about it and what you do after it.
Every failure and setback can become part of your success or an excuse for quitting or failing.
People who develop the discipline of positivity are both happier and more successful."
-Michael Josephson

"Part of abandoning the all-or-nothing mentality is allowing yourself room for setbacks.
We are bound to have lapses on the road to health and wellness, but it is critical that we learn how to handle small failures positively so that we can minimize their long-term destructive effects.
One setback is one setback—it is not the end of the world, nor is it the end of your journey toward a better you.”

"It is rewarding to find someone you like, but it is essential to like yourself.
It is quickening to recognize that someone is a good and decent human being, but it is indispensable to view yourself as acceptable.
It is a delight to discover people who are worthy of respect and admiration and love, but it is vital to believe yourself deserving of these things."

"My invitation to you is to begin living every moment as though you are miraculous and deserve to live an extraordinary life.
Fake it if you must and keep faking it until it’s real to you. The gift you will be giving yourself is a lifelong journey of discovery, one that is infinite and infinitely rewarding. Begin the journey. Today. This moment. Now."

"I believe that we are who we choose to be.
Nobody's going to come and save you. You've got to save yourself.
Nobody's going to give you anything. You've got to go out and fight for it.
Nobody knows what you want except for you.
And nobody will be as sorry as you if you don't get it.
So don't give up on your dreams."

"Transformation is not five minutes from now; it's a present activity. In this moment you can make a different choice, and it's these small choices and successes that build up over time to help cultivate a healthy self-image and self esteem."
