Chasing Rainbows

Hi everyone! My name is Melanie. I am just starting my Sparkpeople journey so check back often. My weight loss journey began in 2009. I weighed 190. Hi everyone! My name is Melanie. I am just starting my Sparkpeople journey so check back often. My weight loss journey began in 2009. I weighed 190. Not too heavy but I was still overweight by 40 pounds. At the suggestion of my mom, I joined Weight Watchers Online. I followed the point system and followed their dietary recommendations in their literature. I didn't like fruit and veggies when I started. However, I forced myself to eat 3-5 servings of them a day and eventually I developed a love for them. Along with the dietary recommendations, I avoided fast food completely, cut out caloric sodas(still had the diet), and included walking. I lost 21 pounds and got down to 169. My story doesn't end there. I did something I shouldn't have done. I QUIT the program. And, yes, I do regret it. I didn't gain those 21 pounds back. I gained more than that. Now, I am in a position that prompts me to take action or I will have problems when I am older. Tracking was something I learned well in Weight Watchers so that is what lead me to this community.

I am motivated by many stories from people on here. I look forward to getting to know you and look forward to getting to know you. Happy Sparking and remember..DON'T QUIT.

Good Morning Melanie

Dropping by to wish you a Blessed Easter Weekend and share a special Easter Poem....

Easter Means Eternal Life

A perfect God demands a perfect justice;
He cannot let us get away with sin.
We used Godís gift of our free will to trespass,
So heavenís gates were closed; we couldnít get in.

Our sin required our blood, a sacrifice,
To atone for all the wrongs that we had done.
"But I love them!" cried our Father, filled with sorrow;
"Iíll send my only Son to be the one."

Good Friday marks the slaying of our Jesus,
The unblemished lamb, the perfect sacrifice.
He took our guilt and blame upon Himself,
So we could be with Him in paradise.

On Easter morning, he came back from death;
He vanished from the tomb, the empty grave.
His resurrection means eternal life
For us, the ones he came to earth to save.

This summarizes all the Easter story
And because of it, weíll be with Him in glory.
