Rainbowchoc,

I have lost weight. I have said no to things, I have walked my dog at least twice a day. I haven't been perfect but I haven't beaten myself up for detours from the path.
From a place where I wore "unisex" coats in 3XL and wouldn't go to a pool I have a pink mac and have gone through four sizes of "cozzie" at my aquafit class.
From a BP reading (pre treatment) of 225/125 to 106/68 and from a fasting glucose which indicated type 2 diabetes to HbA1c of 5.
Something is going ...

Something is going right, and I'm happy with that!

My Goals:
To achieve a "healthy BMI"
To wear knee high leather boots in winter
To go to the doctors without being told the problems are weight related
To encourage other people without making them feel inadequate

My Program:
Based loosely on the 80s WW programme, protein with every meal, limited fats and carbs, unlimited veg and fruit. I don't eat dairy or nuts so will never be a vegetarian but have meat free days following overindulgence.
Drinking 2 litres of water a day has been an education

Personal Information:
Married to himself for 37 years. We have retired to Kent, UK and our son lives in America. We are always on the go, travel and visiting friends/family
.

Other Information:
A year of Sparking has created a self confidence I had hidden with bravado and fat for many years. I have learned it isn't too late to change and be renewed.

"Well done, Lexie. 100 miles means you have walked down to see me! "

So I have! Great news! *knock knock*

"Hello! I really hope you have the kettle on, cos it was a long walk and I only had diet water to drink."

Thanks for your comments on my blog. :-)
As you say, it's getting more difficult to boycott a certain company (or think you are) only to find out it's owned by another. I have always been a "by scratch" cook, so I'm not attracted to packaged foods by nature. I would rather make my own pasta than buy the dried, packaged stuff, but heck, that's a lot of work! Actually the dough making is a cinch if you have a food processor. It's the kneading, rolling and cutting that is a bit of a pain.
Anyway, I do insist on making most everything from scratch, as I said so that means a LOT of meal/food planning (Thursday's roasted chicken will be stripped of any meat today and thrown into a pot for stock, for example), and when I add in the time I need to exercise it makes getting time in the pottery studio hard. :-( Oh, woe is me. But man, I'm trying to be ethical here. LOL!

Years ago, I read a book titled, One Minute Mother. It was about telling your children when they were doing something right rather than only saying something when they were doing wrong. I work better with praise and motivation than being lectured.

I have always been honest with my doctors, even when I was doing everything wrong. I have to get at the root of things. I am an emotional eater, but that cannot be an excuse that keeps me from trying to do what I know I should.
