Moving Forward in 2014

2013 ended up being a terribly rough year for me. I switched to a new job which caused me an exponential amount of stress; my mom was diagnosed with cancer; and my relationship of 2 years ended.

I went into 2014 vowing to turn my life around and so far, I've done just that. I'm separating from the military, moving across the country back to my hometown in NJ, and starting a new job. I'm also currently training for my first full marathon on October 19th.

I still need to lose 15-20lbs to get my weight back to where I'm comfortable with it and I know it will take time.

I give thanks to God, the Father, for you as I pray for you today. May you know by experience God’s grace, spiritual favor and BLESSing today and every day, having heart peace from God the Eternal Father – that peaceful state of trust in Him to which He calls us; that soul harmony with Him that umpires life choices, heart desires, and questions of the mind. May He settle us with faith to trust Him. Have a BLESSed Thanksgiving, rested in Father. Loving you in Christ, Darlene.

The cold weather is getting to me, but it will not win the war. What is getting to you and slowing your progress? Let me know and I will gladly pray with you for your victory. Whatever the challenge, let's keep the main thing the main thing and find the victory there. Enjoy the journey, and remember, progress--not perfection. Change comes here a little and there a little as we stay the course. Remember that true success is in how we make the journey, not the destination. If we lose all our weight but fail the change the habits that put us there, we may feel victorious in reaching the destination, but it will be short lived if we don't find the victory needed on the journey of true change. emoticon emoticon emoticon Darlene emoticon Go Mustangs! There is victory in the journey lived well.

Worry over the future breeds anxiety. Fretting over the past breeds depression. Both can stop our good movement forward and put us in front of the TV with a bad movie and too much of the stuff we don’t need to put into our bodies. That horrid cycle, of course, breeds regret and dread that brings us to more of the same. I believe that is called “insanity”.

Instead work to stay in the present taking the next step needed for living to the full the “now” that is before you, having learned better ways from past experience and pushing forward with hope that right action now will produce a better tomorrow. This is living life with power that produces a good outcome and protects our journey from wasting away.

Plan for the future, yes; but let the first plan be to live your best you in the now you have to possess.

How was your drive? (more like.. how were your audio books? haha)
I hope everything went well for you, the transition to your family's house, your stuff and you arriving safely, and hopefully transitioning into a new job.. not wearing a uniform!
take care of yourself!
