Hi, I'm Rita. I've been a complete sweets freak since childhood and morbidly obese virtually all of my adult life. I really started packing on the pounds in sixth grade, when I changed schools and mom went back to work (food choice freedom + social anxiety = abuse of sweets).

I've been horrible at dieting and have even considered bypass surgery. It's difficult to put into words the disappointment of truly believing you could not get to 300 lbs after surpassing 200 lbs, then seeing the scale register 319! The prospect of losing over half of my body weight has always been completely overwhelming and seemingly unachievable.

Recently, I discovered a new way of eating that has been pretty successful for me in terms of mood and physical well-being, but sustained weight loss eludes me. I lost a good chunk of weight about two years ago (@ 40lbs) and have put it all back on. Now, I'm ready to re-commit to to utilizing the community and resources of SparkPeople to get me through the journey ahead.

My Goals:
My main goal is to improve my health and ability to move pain-free: increase energy, increase stamina, and decrease aches/pains.

Here are my current goals to help get there:

* Log my daily food intake at least 4 times/week

* Circuit or Bodypump, at least 1x/week

* Ski machine, Zumba or other interval cardio 2x/week

* Expand my social network

* Get to the 210s by Christmas 2014

My Program:
FOOD: Generally,very low carb (I'm ultra-sensitive), moderate protein, high good fats diet with a whole foods focus.

EXERCISE DAILY: walk the dogs 2x/day ~ 2 miles total

Personal Information:
I'm 40+, married to my high school sweetheart (over 20 years) and share our lives with our rescue doggies, Vera and Pinky.

I was born and raised in Philly (Philadelphia, PA), spent six years in Vegas (NV), and now live in Fresno, CA (Central Valley - not what you typically think when you think California).

I work in Higher Ed and ended up in Fresno for the job opportunity.
