My name is Nola and this is my second year with SP. After a lifetime of taking care of others this is my time to take care of myself and lose the weight. Last year with diligent tracking of both food and exercise I reached my goal for that year. This year to reach my overall goal weight the balance has to come off. I am nearly there, so hopefully by Christmas 2014 I will be on a maintenance program.

I love the name of your reason for forgetfulness, it sums the whole losing my mind as well as everything else part of growing older perfectly! My Dad used to say continually that it was no fun reaching 'old age', and I always used to remind him that it was worse not to reach it at all. I never took into consideration all the time wasted searching for those disappearing safe places, and the frustration it causes. I've decided I'm no slower at doing the usual household tasks each day, I just spend more time than I used to in searching for the things I need to get them done. OAS describes it perfectly.

I've tried to switch to healthier food choices and to lose weight ever since my first daughter was born, almost 40 years ago, but somehow lost my motivation along the way. After my doctor telling me I needed to either cut out all the junk foods and soft drinks or resign myself to a much shorter life than I could otherwise live, thanks to a heart problem, I realised that time is running out for me too. That was enough of a reality check to make me determined to change my habits straight away, and I came straight to Spark People to keep a check on what I'm eating/drinking, and how much of them I'm working off by exercising.

Having to weigh in at our local T.O.W.N. Club each Wednesday morning really keeps me accountable! I just hope I can find it as easy to maintain my goal weight when I finally reach it as I have to stick with eating good, clean, healthy foods.

Chris.
