2012 a new attitude!

My name is melodie and I have been with spark people since october 2011. I am a critical care nurse specializing in open heart patients. I know all the hazards of eating badly. I teach my patients about good health and healthy heart living after surgery and conditions such as congestive heart failure and heart attacks. I was not overweight til I went to nursing school 15 years ago. The stress of my job, bad choices and eating on the run has put a toll on me.

I teach my patients about good health and healthy heart living after surgery and conditions such as congestive heart failure and heart attacks. I was not overweight til I went to nursing school 15 years ago. The stress of my job, bad choices and eating on the run has put a toll on me.
I really not sure how my weight got here, used to be so healthy. I was a marine in 1983 and actually ran the marine corp marathon, funny how life changes. I also love to cook.
I just turned 50 in december and had a blood clot to my leg due to obesity and my job, hard work running up and down halls performing cpr due a code blue. I made a healthy change in october and the duration of 2011 took off 25 lbs. I need to lose about 80 or more lbs to be considered healthy but this time I will do it.
I also love horses and have just 2 now. The lil colt (cowboy)in my picture is all grown up and is a 5 year old gelding(as of the other day) and I have a mare sweetie who is expecting a foal in may. I got out of riding due to my weight and that is one of my goals for losing weight.
I want to enjoy life instead of passing through it. Please come with me on this journey.
I recently returned from texas visitng family and after talking with my aunts I decided to make a food blog mostly of our families history with food. My grandmother recently passed at 98 and after cleaning out her place found a ton of recipes, some I had some I did not. So check out my blogger site, hence the name change.

My Goals:
first goal- 25lbs 10% weight goal by christmas day 230 -DONE!
2nd 15% weight goal 38lbs by valentines day 216lbs
3rd- 20% by easter
205lbs

My Program:
I love eating as clean as possible nothing processed, lean meats at 2-4 whole grains a day and lots of vegetables. I never really ate fried foods unless it was a special event but the wrong foods. I have a stressful job and eat on the run and there was always something in the breakroom to grab a handful of chips, a few chocolates, or cake someone brought in they wanted to get rid of from home.
This is my new beginning.

Wow, it's Monday Morning and we've been given this day as a gift just for us to enjoy. We'll discover it's blessings and it's challenges, everything to keep us from being bored. LOL So I must say have a happy week, discoverying all the joys, blessings, surprises, and challenges it holds for you. Really, we have wo much to be grateful about.

Oh what a wonderful day...we are alive and given the gift of this day!! Plus it is a day of rest, as well as a day we get to worship the Lord!

Hello:

How are you do today. I am so happy it is Saturday. This week I had to keep doing my routine, however, I really have not been well. Still not felling so good, but feel I need to stop by.

We have a snow storm here. My daughter is all excited because she can go snow boarding. Our dogs have been enjoying playing in the snow—it is funny watching them.

I am starting to eat an anti-inflammatory diet. I have noticed a 2 pound weight loss!! The Spark cardio chair exercise DVD has been good for me as is Leslie Sansome's DVD have been helping me too. This upcoming week I am doing the Spark 28 Boot Camp Day DVD.
