I've lost about 55 lbs in the last year - which, could be better, but I'm pleases with the progress. But more than that, I've gained energy, confidence and a sense of self. I feel like when I started this journey I was really struggling. I was struggling to live life at all. I was so out of shape that it hurt. And I realize that even today - when my legs hurt from walking 2 miles and playing a softball game - I'm better than I was a year ago. And I'm proud. Thanks to all of my Spark friends who have given me encouragement and support along the way. Here's to another 55 lbs (or more) weight loss this year. I'm excited to be sharing this journey with you!

January 2010 (original post): I recently realized that I was seeing myself differently than how I really am. When I think of myself, I see a trim, sexy woman who has tons of energy and can keep up with anybody. And, the truth is, that's not me.
Right now, I have no energy, I can barely walk from the car to the stadium for my favorite sporting events - let along play sports (which used to be my favorite thing).
I want to be the person that can do anything!
I don't want to be like this forever!
My biggest obstacle has been myself - I'm a busy, working, life of the party kind of girl - and I would rather be out with my friends eating good food and drinking sugary cocktails than putting myself first.
But, that has to change. I'm important - and I just realized that. I also realized that I need to put myself first and find time during the day just for me and my emotional and physical well being!
I'm looking for a sparkbuddy who can help me stay motivated and who wants to talk daily (or close to it) to share the peaks and the valleys!

I'm still recovering from ankle reconstruction I had about 11 months ago. It's been a slow process, but I'm being really careful and following my PT's and Dr.'s advice to a T. I still don't run, but I've been slowly increasing my time walking and on the elliptical since given the OK to start exercising again last January...Anyway, point is, I know how you feel!

Hey Kelly. Thank's for posting on my blog! I should have actually given you more detailed instructions on the pico de gallo. Try to have at least a little more tomato than onion. I diced up two small roma tomatoes and you could really use 3 or four. And probably half a large onion diced. 2 jalapenos copped small (keep the seeds if you want it really spicy, if not, only use a portion of the seeds or none). Use about a palm full of cilantro or whatever you like. It's pretty cheap at the grocery store (We get it for 4 bushels for a dollar). And on the garlic, remember less is more. Half a clove to to make 4-6 servings should be fine. Just remember to press the garlic with your knife once you've chopped it up. Unless you have a fancy garlic press ;-) and of course shake it all up in a container with a little salt/pepper/lime. Next time I may try adding mango too.
