Howdy! I'm Robin! I finally decided I was done with excuses not to be healthy. I have over one hundred pounds to loose and plan to do it one pound at a time. I'm a single, with no kids, school teacher. Yep - the stereotypical old maid school marm. I love my work and my life except for health issues. My hope is that Spark People and I can work together to make a healthier me.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much! - Helen Keller

Miracle Noodles are no calorie, no gluten, very low carb, no fat and are made from the konjac root, also known as glucomannan. It is a Japanese noodle all made from fiber. They are not like regular pasta and remind me of ramen noodles in texture and shape. They are packed in a liquid and because of this they do smell a little fishy when you open the package. All you do is rinse them and the smell goes away. You can put them in any meal. I use them for stir fry, spaghetti and in soup. The smell is from the fermenting fiber. You boil them for 1-2 minutes and they are ready to go. The thing I really like about them is that they do not cause my blood sugar to spike like regular pasta does. You can check them out at miraclenoodle.com I found them advertised here at SP.

Saw on the "Healthy Reflections Email" message board that you've been struggling and consider giving up... I'm SO sorry to hear this!! PLEASE keep hanging in there and KNOW that YOU are worth this!!!!! We all have "bad times" during this journey -- yesterday was a good example for ME -- I gave into my "stress eating habit"... And it can be VERY frustrating BUT I see on your page you had/have lost 33 pounds!! WOW WOW WOW!!! That's BEYOND AWESOME!!! You've obviously GOT what it takes to do this!! emoticon

Noticed you're a teacher -- KUDOS to you!!!!! You guys are the MOST underpaid, overworked people that walk this earth!! THANK YOU for what you do!!

I'm also guessing that's part of your "issue".... You're SO used to taking care of EVERYONE else and putting EVERYONE else ahead of YOUR needs etc.... This time, do it for YOU -- put the SAME CARE into YOU as you do the people/kids you teach!! You deserve it!

Hang in there!! emoticon
