There's just something about crossing a decade line that makes you think. I will be turning 30 in December of this year, and in looking at my life on my 29th birthday, I realized that where I am is not really where I want to be. I feel like I'm just existing in life instead of living it. I'm sick of being held back by my weight and my unhealthy lifestyle, so it's time to finally make a change that will last.

I've been on Sparkpeople on and off for years, and the first few tries had limited success. I am bound and determined to make this time work though. I think having that major goal looming in the distance will really help keep me on track. This time around in order to be successful, I am focusing on making small changes that I can live with that will slowly add up to big changes. Nothing will work permanently if you can't stick with it, right?!

Wish me luck, and if you'd like to follow along on my journey, please check out my blog at simplywholelife . wordpress . com!

Just getting around to reading my spark page and saw your post. Have you tried Stevia aka Truvia? It's a zero cal sweetener but it's not made from sugar or aspertame. It comes from the stevia plant and you can purchase it like a powdered sugar or as drops. It's like 10 times sweeter than sugar so a little goes a long way. So far I've not heard anything bad about it and I've been using it for awhile now. I use it because I must avoid aspertame. There is also agave but it still has calories but a lower glycemic index so it is absorbed at a slower rate.

PS Have you decided on which February one you're going to do? Perhaps I'll tag a long so I can see what I'm in for.. I've got a race planned for March, 2 in May (PS Glow run is a go!! Would we drive back or look into rooms?) and 10k in June.. Is there something for April you'd recommend? I know it gets pricey, but since my promotion I've been smoking again and that is just really gross to me and I know if I have something like a race to train for that will help me kick the habit and put the cig money I'm saving towards race registration!

I would love to meet up for a beer after the run as well as look into the Glow Run in May. I've never heard of that and I was looking into some other stuff for May so I'll make sure the dates don't cause a conflict!
