Nana's don't have to be useless......

Hi, I am new to all this, so I hope you will bear with me until I find my way around. I am a 59 year old grandmother (nana) recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which suddenly happened in January 2008 and still trying to come to terms with being so useless. The Doctors are trying to sort out my medication still, so I have to be patient. I am a 59 year old grandmother (nana) recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis which suddenly happened in January 2008 and still trying to come to terms with being so useless. The Doctors are trying to sort out my medication still, so I have to be patient. I have put on a lot of weight over the past few months and lack the motivation to lose any because of my condition (every movement hurts at the moment). Anyway, joining you people should help me. Love to you all.

Thanks so much for the support! It's been a long time, how are you doing? Are the meds you were on still working?

Hi Rosiebear, I am on 55 ladies team with you and came here to tell you I know exactly what you are going through with the RA. I am 57 and have had it since I was 34. I know the ups and downs and how it can really get you down. The biggest thing I hate about it is not the pain you live with daily but the lack of energy. I used to have so much energy and now I have learned I have to pace myself. If you ever need to chat, you know I'm here and can send me a message. Sparks does work. I've lost 22 pounds since the end of March and with all the meds and no energy I've taken over the years, I never thought I would lose much or get a little bit of energy back. But I have. I'm going to keep plodding along. I do know it (RA) is something I have to live with, so I made the best of each day. Big hugs. Barb emoticon

Rosie, I know what you are going through with the aritus. My dh was diagnosed last December and now is on a steroid that does help. They can find meds that will help you not be in so much pain, it just takes time. I sure hope they get yours soon. If you can move some, it does make the pain a little less.
