Think Healthy!

I am in my fifth year of living a healthy life style!!
I celebrated my fourth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2015. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 2 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son in November to Anorexia Nervosa. I am in the first year of my grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

We all cried the day Princess was put down and at times afterward. So much was wrong with her that couldn't be fixed, she couldn't go on no matter how much we wanted her to get better and be with us.

Mainly, I have been exhausted from the emotional stress of all of this. Hubby will retire, August 1, be the Lord Willing and we will draw from the strength of each other.

I will feel a lot better when Crellie walks normally and comes upstairs to be with us. It is cool, but dark, in the basement and that should help her.

Thank you for praying for us. God can accomplish so much more than we humans can.

When we first got Princess, Princess acted like she was going to bite Crellie. We confined Crellie in the workshop in the basement and she could get out in the basement by a pathway along one wall behind our washer and dryer. We set a laundry basket on end so that Princess couldn't get back there. Crellie would come out into the basement and Princess would chase her. Crellie ran back behind the washer and dryer and the dog couldn't figure out how to get to her.
Eventually, the cat started coming up the basement stairs onto the landing and when Princess saw her, the chase was on. One day Crellie didn't run, but lied on her side in submission. Princess sniffed her and when Crellie got up, Princess would chase her. That went on until Princess started letting Crellie walk around upstairs. Crellie could get under the beds, but Princess couldn't.

They made friends with each other though Princess never wanted Crellie to get up against her. At night, Princess would sleep in the hallway. Crellie has a nose like a tiny ice cube and she would touch Princess on the nose and wake her up. Sometimes Princess would chase her, sometimes she just growled at her and went back to sleep. For Crellie, that was a nightly game she played with Princess,
