Staying Focused!!

I am in my fourth year of living a healthy life style!!
I celebrated my three year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2014. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 2 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

The biggest things that stand out to me are my energy level and my confidence to try new physical activities.

I have eaten a lot healthier over the past three years. I love the food and fitness tracker app on my iphone. It helps me to stay consistent and on track.

My Goals:
To complete five 5k's during the 2014 season.

To run a 5k in under 26.24.

To run the Main Street Miler 2014 in under 8.38 mph.

To complete the Philly Broadstreet 10 miler in May. COMPLETED in 1 hr 45 mins

To run the Delaware Half Marathon May 11, 2014 COMPLETED in 2 hrs 24 minutes

My Program:
I am currently on a lunch/salad streak - 1 month and counting. I enjoy oatmeal most mornings for breakfast, and eat a "healthy" dinner most nights.

I run 25 - 30 minutes at least 5 times per week.

I also practice yoga.

I walk 2 miles per day with my dog, Roxy - weather permitting!!

Personal Information:
I have been married for 27 years. I have two sons, ages 25 and 23 and a beautiful little Boston Terrier named "Roxy". Having a dog who loves to walk is such a great gift...she gets me out everyday. All I have to do is look at those big brown eyes and I am out the door!!

I've been a loyal Spirited Underdog since Winter Challenge, this will be my 4th challenge (I only ended up losing on the 3rd one..)
I'm down a bit more than 9 lbs from this last one. i cant wit for the next!
ps- that ALS challenge, i'm gonna save water and not humiliate myself LOL... but i will donate!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I must say you are so incredibly supportive. I feel like you really understand my situation and are you heartfelt emoticon I tried to have a better day today. Didn`t start out so well considering it`s my third day this week where rain ruined my walk, but I`m hoping it`s better tomorrow. I work a night shift as well tomorrow. It`s funny cause sometimes I enjoy those shifts the most because I`m able to focus on something bigger than myself. Nursing lets me help others, then in the wee hours of the morning it enables me to think about my own life and collect my thoughts.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I volunteered out of sympathy for the last teacher. She didn't like making calls when class was cancelled. It turned into much more. Love that water aerobics has built up my muscles enough so that I rarely have aches and pains anymore.
