I am in my sixth year of living a healthy life style!! I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2016. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals. I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it! As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people! Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son last November to Anorexia Nervosa. I am in the first year of my grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me. My favorite quotes... All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything!Gary W. Goldstein Goals are dreams with deadlines. ---Diana Scharf Hunt Take care of your body. Its the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you.Guru Singh No Matter How You Feel, Get Up, Dress Up, Show Up, and Never Give Up - Unknown

I am back down to 225 pounds and want to lose more. Hubby is spending our grocery money on Coke and dog treats. I told him I didn't want to give this dog treats. He is the one that gave them to our cat and then she developed the kidney stones and had to be put on special food. He is so stubborn. The pets come before me when it comes to what is fed to them. For awhile I had just eggs and Fresh Express Spring mix salad greens, nothing else. He was buying Coke, pumpkin pies, chocolate covered Twinkies and potato chips.

We have run through our Social Security checks and we were going to go to a Bible conference over Labor Day, but we got the bill for the heat pump repair and it was $230. The dog, vet visit and this repair was over $630 this month, not counting our other bills. I figure if I am going to be home, I may as well have a pet to keep me company.

One of my photos on Spark People, the one of Bayau, shows water damage where a pipe leaked under the kitchen sink. The flooring came up under the kitchen cabinet.

I watched a video last night about potty training puppies and it said to take the dog outside every hour. If the puppy has an accident, time it from the last time it went outside and this will be the new time to take the puppy out.

So if the puppy had an accident at 45 minutes before the hour was up, the new time to take the puppy outside, would be every 45 minutes. As it learns, the time in between going out to potty should lengthen. Bayau will bark when something is wrong, when her food or water bowl is empty or she wants to go outside. When she is penned though, there is no way to communicate with us because we are gone. She did number 1 and 2 last night before we left, but she still had an accident.

She hasn't gone again in the bedroom where she pooped while we were in church last Sunday. Our son is coming over tonight to help us scrub the carpeting.

We were told that Bayau is afraid of water. She goes onto the pool deck, but I don't think she knows that the pool is full of water. She will find out tomorrow, Saturday, when we hope to have a pool party/birthday party, be the Lord Willing.

I play Frisbee with her in the morning. It doesn't require a great deal of effort on my part and she loves chasing it and retrieving it. We also take her for walks for her exercise.
