I'll be 48 in May of 2015. I'm a wife and mother of two adult children. (One, 19, is still at home.) We have a great dog and cat, and I adore animals. I live in MN, but am trying to get my butt to someplace warmer - perhaps NC.

I'm a Zombies, Run walker/runner, I use a FitBit tracker every day, and I want to start and MAINTAIN a yoga practice. I would like to lose weight, but my primary goal is to feel better.

My Goals:
Update, November 2014: After falling away from SP, I'm coming back, but cautiously. If I'm not careful, it takes too much time. I've lost approx. 10 pounds, and I want to lose 20 more, but I don't want to stress out over it. I'm challenged by a difficult phase in my perimenopause, and I need to be kind to myself.

It's most important to me to feel generally healthy and energetic. I write and work on the computer a lot, and need to move more.

An ultimate goal is that I'd like to be able to run again - the way I did when I was a kid: with a sense of joy of freedom.

My Program:
My Goals:
1. Move daily. (Yoga, Zombies, Run!, walking, etc.)
2. Get my average daily steps up into the 8,000 steps per day range ... with no days under 5,000.
3. Blog my gratitudes at SP daily.
4. Being productive in my chosen field improves my mood and attitude immensely. For that reason, I want to write on my blog and/or my novels EVERY DAY.
5. Looking good also improves my ability to function well. For that reason, I want to stay on top of a good hygiene and beauty routine. That means being clean, being well-dressed for the situation, wearing a little (or a lot) of makeup, and being accessorized with cool, distinctive "stuff".

Current numbers:
goal weight - 170 - 180
exercise in minutes - 210 weekly (30 minutes a day)

Personal Information:
My name is Renae Rude. I'll be 48 this coming May, 2015. I'm married, with two adult children. I'm a writer. I currently live in Minnesota, but am trying escape the winters here. I'd like to end up somewhere near North Carolina.

Other Information:
I am an IOWL fan and one aspect of that is to create and use thoughtfully designed intention statements.

I intend to:

--move often and take opportunities to be outside more.

--build paranormal sanctuaries for those who feel lost & out of place in the "normal" world.

--nurture my inner strength & energy so I may more easily share my soul's gifts.

--cherish and explore the sensual pleasures available to me in each present moment.

--Honor and respect the generous nature of the universe and enjoy a life of prosperity and abundance.

--easily and skillfully finish one novel after another.

--accept and use my natural ability to be in flow.

--live a life of kindness, compassion, creativity & beauty, with intention and grace.

--easily and naturally become healthier firmer, and fitter every day.

--fearlessly express my beauty & individuality through authentic and distinctive style choices.

Oh! Your husband is a man after my own heart. I'd love to be able to watch a movie all the way through with no commentary. :)

Hey there! I wanted to let you know that I was perusing your blog this evening and came across the Find a Grave post. I followed the link and, similar to your process, decided to search for my maternal grandfather.

I was actually surprised to find him, as he was buried in a deep woods cemetery in Louisiana (actually named Big Woods Cemetery or, in the second half - which has a dozen urban legends surrounding it - Antioch Cemetery). As an adolescent I spent several nights out in the cemetery with friends, scaring other miscreants who dared to enter, and "pouring one" for those who had passed.

The reason I wanted to share this with you is two-fold. First, I decided to show my mother, who was in complete shock. Her father died when I was in middle school (nearly 20 years ago now), and they never had a great relationship. We decided to also look up her mother, who is supposed to be buried right next to my grandfather. Sure enough, she was listed as well. This really touched my mom, who said it was odd that I brought this to her attention because she had just been looking at her mother's obituary earlier today. Thank you for posting this. It's really amazing the impact it can have on people.

The second reason is that I wanted to suggest, if you haven't already done so (I haven't spent enough time on your blog yet) that you consider taking a trip to Louisiana to check out the cemeteries there. Especially in New Orleans, there are historical cemeteries abound, and lots of midnight tours and such. Where I grew up in west Louisiana though, there are several "older" cemeteries as well. A decade or so ago my sister actually took a train around the US and began near New Orleans, snapping photos in graveyards because of the history and feel of the place. Just a thought!

You are right. Work is not exercise. It really will help him, no matter what the cause. I'm hoping he just has a mild case of SAD but at least you and your hubby are in a great position to help him if it is something more serious. Maybe you can go on walks together. That would be good for all of you. I suffered from SAD most of my life but no one knew about it when I was young. Fall and Winter here are dreary and there is no sun.
