Hello, my name is Amy. I've been Sparking since January 2014. It has been an incredible journey. While my weight loss has not exactly been what I had hoped, I learned a lot about myself that, I have come to realize, are lessons I needed to learn before I could make any permanent changes to my body.

The first thing is that I am not alone. Anything I could experience has been experienced by someone on this site before. So, I might as well decide I am going to be accountable for my actions. No one is going to judge me for a diet slip and slide more negatively than I judge myself; actually, I have had such positive reinforcement that I am finally learning to forgive myself and let go of shame and doubt. I will have slips: I am still human. But I will come back from those slips a little wiser.

Also, you cannot return to your old habits and hope to maintain your weight loss. I know that sounds obvious, but having gained back the weight I lost + a few pounds really brought it home.

Another thing I had to face is that I stress eat. I don't even know I'm doing it. I think I am taking a few bites and BAM! the whole thing is gone. Not a big deal when it's a whole apple, but a very big deal when it's a whole large pizza! I also self sabotage.It's a very old habit. Putting that out there in my sparkteams has helped me to recognize when I am falling into that trap.

I encourage anyone trying to Spark to join several teams, make many friends, and take advantage of the support available. Because the most important thing I have learned in a year is this...One Spark can make you burn with the fire of possibilities!

Reach 163 by November 12, 2015.

Teach my children to be healthy by giving a good example.

Smaller goals: Lose an average of 2 lbs. per week.

Drink 8 glasses of water daily.

Get some form of exercise for 30 minutes a day, minimum 5 days per week.

I live in West Sacramento CA, but work in Sacramento. I'm a Preschool teacher. I'm 45, a mother of 2 girls ages 9 & 6, and 2 fur-people.

emoticon for your comments on my blog. emoticon --it really felt like I was being taken care of that day, and the day before. I got to my interview, I was safe, I saved money, and had many people help me.
