One pound at a time.......

I have spent the last several years losing and gaining the same weight. My poor eating habits have finally caught up with me....my last blood sugar was elevated and I am fearful that I ate myself into a diabetes diagnosis. I started the Dukan Diet and am making a commitment to put myself first because my life does depend on it!!!

I am 48 years young and married to the love of my life for 16 years. Together we have two daughters. We live on the beautiful Jersey Shore. I am a registered nurse and work on a psychiatric unit of a large local hospital.

Leave the past in the past. Today is a new day and you are taking back the reins. Now that is to be celebrated...that in itself is an accomplishment and if it makes you feel better I've been of the wagon the last 6 months and I'm horribly out of shape and pretty much starting over fitness wise. Today I did the first session of day 2 on c25k and it was tough for me. Oh and circus class lol didnt last very longfor me...I had neither the strength or the flexibility and 3 days later I'm still sore from it. So we are both essentially just crawling back in the wagon. We can so do this and we deserve to be fit...healthy and strong. Don't feel you have to run. Do something you enjoy...walking is great or swimming...dancing with the broom. It all counts. I hope you post in the cafe thread at the NEW team so everyone can get to know you and support you
Also post in the january miles challenge the number of miles you plan that's a great motivator. Each week we have a thread where we post our weekly goals and we get medals for completeing them. I'm hoping to complete the running program again but at 48 if its to be walking that's okay.
Don't beat yourself up...think only positive thoughts...mentally visualize yourself fit and healthy and loving your new life.
.think about the confidence...joy you will feel as all the little daily victories add up.

I'm looking forward to getting my perma grin back. Do a search on spark for perma grin.

Its something I wrote when I was really in the healthy groove...its moments like that push me on. Girl its all about baby steps...patience...and being our own best friend...and not giving up. When you fall and we all do we just get back up and go again. We can do this and laugh our way thin.

SO, SO glad you're back! You have my support! You always have! I am trying to lose the 12 pounds that I have gained. I need your support too. I am losing my mojo so to speak. It's January and cold and I haven't seen the sun in days. I am depressed and I could go on. I need something. I have been tracking my calories most days, but I always blow my eating around 4pm-5pm. I need to start thinking of myself again, and micro manage my family less. That's what I did for a year or more as I lost the weight.

Whoooo hoooo your back perhaps we can motivate each other. I've been struggling lately. Why don't you join me at the NEW team we have a miles challenge going this month. Its a small team and easy to make friends. Glad your back.
