He who has begun has the work half done ....

Three years ago my full time job became more desk based and since then I have gained 2-3 stone . I became lazy about the food I was eating and failed to increase my exercise.
My goal is to to regain fitness levels, be stronger, healthier and drop 2 dress sizes.

I'm 51 and live in the UK

UPDATE June 13: 20Kg's lighter due to cycling regularly, weight training and low GI foods.

Target for September 13- to loose another 8KGs and a complete a 100 mile sportive( 8Th September)


My Program:
Cardio: A combination of cycling, cross trainer or treadmill 5 days a week

Strength training 1 or2 days a week.

Low GI foods as unproccessed as possible

Reduce alcohol

Welcome to the gang, we are a very friendly & supportive group of Sparkers so come on in and feel at home here. Drop in for ‘A Natter’ anytime or join in our Challenges.
We often get together for the odd Sunday lunch, in Telford, Birmingham, Nottingham & Nuneaton which are really great. Take a look at the ‘Sunday Tucker’ topic to see what we get up to.
Each July for the past 3 years, Pete (DH & also CATMAN124) & I have organised the UK Main Team Party in the Park at Coombe Abbey and although the gatherings have only been small so far, we are hoping that as an annual event, it will grow & grow. Look out for the UK Team Party In The Park 23rd July 2011 thread.

Hello and Welcome! Good luck with your programme. Take it easy as there is so much to read and you can find yourself sitting for some time trawling the pages, which rather contradicts the aim of getting away from the desk.
I've found the short exercise vids from Coach Nicole really useful and they've nudged me into longer periods of exercise. The official challenges are also a really good place to start.
